My son had a very positive experience at this school, and he learned a lot. There seemed to be a lot of compassion. My son helped a lot of the kids with some disabilities, and he did not feel like there was a lot of bullying going on. I read all of the reviews before he went, which weren't very positive, and I was very grateful that it went really well. This is just our experience, but I thought this was a great school.

I would rate this school a 0. I want to transfer him to another school but the closest school has low academic ratings so I just pray next year is better. My son fears to go to school and learning. It is hindering him on his studies and social-emotional growth.

This school has been nothing but welcoming and inviting. They show a great deal of care for the education of their students. The school has many events to show appreciation for their students. This school really understand what parents want from a school. My third grader has been to a new school every year since pre-k and I have never felt such heart like this school has. I always know what is going on, what will be happening and I feel safe sending my children here.

My son was pushed off of playground equipment and kindergarten fracturing his elbow. The school was unapologetic and did not even remove the kid from his classroom. The other kid had been giving my son a hard time for awhile and nothing was done. just "disciplinary action" a joke. they offered to move my son yet he had done nothing wrong. I was thankful we moved out of that school district very shortly afterwards.

I have to say from personal experience Yowell is a wonderful school. We have had terrific teachers and even experienced a bully with one of our children. I contacted the teacher and principal and it stopped immediately and made sure proper action was taken. Our kids enjoy being at school and have learned a lot. I will say that I often go to eat lunch with our children and when you do that you eat in the cafeteria pod, it breaks my heart that if the children get loud they turn the lights off and it has to be silent. To us, aside from recess that is the one time they should be able to talk with friends. Overall great school, safe and terrific teachers! Thanks for making us feel like family. Go Stallions!

my daughter went in yowell 2012-13 for kindergarten and she loved it, i thought having a guy teacher for the first time is kinda odd for her but wow he's awesome teacher, he really inform us everything about our daughter, he's caring, patient, well organize, friendly, i have all the good things to say to him, he's like a second parent to all the students.

I have never seen such a horrible antiquated discipline system in my life. They make kindergarteners and first graders use a color system for "controlling" them. They publically humiliate the children on a daily basis and send the childs "color" home every day! I have seen no evidence that they do anything except use punitive measures that make a very bright enthusiastic child feel like they are "bad" for forgetting to put a book away and other trivial color changes instead of gently remreminding them . It is all about power and control vs. Teaching and modeling appropriate responsibility. I suggest the principle read up to date programs on positive discipline!

Great school, wonderful teachers. Very impressed. This is a new County for us and so far we are really happy with this school, the parent involvement and the organizational skills and truly professional staff that makes this school an A+

Loved having my daughter switch to this school. Best school in the area by far! Never have had an ounce of problems. Go stallions!

This school causes nothing but headaches. There are a few wonderful teachers, but the bad ones are so bad that it it impossible to overlook. The principal is awful. She only cares about what will make her look good, she has no business being a principal. The kids seem like they are in jail. They can't talk, touch the walls, or get off the "red line" that is in the hallway floor. The cafeteria often makes the kids eat with the lights off and punishes the kids who talk during lunch. I didn't think it was possible to have an elem school that my kid would want to go to, but Yowell is just *that* bad.

My daughter has been attending Yowell for kindergarten this year. She has loved her teacher and been very excited about school everyday. Their reading program is awful. I asked a "reading specialist" if the program they were using was phonics based and she told me she did not know. I have never met or talked to on the phone with the principle of the school. When I had a problem I talked to the assistant principle. They do not communicate with parents at all. They seem to expect you to know everything already. The "newsletter" they send home is just ads. I don't think you should get home work in kindergarten but at this school you do and it is pointless busy work. The focus seems to be reading and not much else. They don't start math really till the 2nd half of the year. When my daughter first started getting home work for reading they didn't even send home instructions. I went by what my 5 year old told me her teacher said! the children don't get enough time to eat. the kids are not aloud to talk above a whisper or they turn out the lights. Parents are not aloud to eat in the lunch room with their children. You have to sit at a table in the hall with your child.

Does not keep parents properly informed on what is going on at the school. The curriculum is seriously lacking. I did not like the principal. She seemed very defensive when talking to her about school things. I want my kids out of this school and district.

The schools curriculum is below average. They send out generic school district newsletter which only seem to tell you days off or advertise babysitters.
