Crested Butte Community School -- beyond having a beautiful, modern facility (it s a huge building housing all grades K-12) in a breathtaking setting beneath Mt. Crested Butte -- offers top-notch teachers (very many of whom have their Masters or higher), highly awarded academic programs, relatively small class sizes, and hands-on access to technology for all of its students. The teachers are dedicated and kind, and they help the children take responsibility for their education. Among the programs offered are Art, Music, and PE (which have sadly been lost or removed from so many other schools around the country). There is a high level of parental participation and volunteerism, and the entire community loves and supports their school and its faculty. According to the children, even the school lunches are great! CBCS has adopted a Positive Reinforcement discipline system which has uplifted the student body morale and successfully reduced disciplinary infractions and referrals. This school is really a caring family: a great place to learn and grow!
