Alleghany County Public Schools and Alleghany High School have always been about Teaching, Learning, and Caring (T.L.C.). I have been invested in Alleghany High School since my freshman year back in 1984. The success of the faculty, students, parents, and community are extremely important to my everyday life and existence. I am going to do everything within my power to get everyone to strive to be the best!

I rate the experience at this school (in a rate of 1-10) a 8. The experience that I had at the school was exceptionally good. The teachers were very attentive to the students and helped them to their best ability.

I was a former student at this school...honestly I am very unsatisfied with this school. All in all I only had one great outstanding teacher. Mrs. Angle. Other than that...the teachers didnt seem to care and in some cases they didnt know what they were teaching. It was us the students that were constantly correcting the teachers on important concepts of the material that was being taught. Also, guidance didnt seem to care about the students. If you were well known in the community, you would never get in trouble and all the teachers and guidance would love you...however, if you were, lets say, new...teachers would grade you more harshly and get on to you for the slightest things...all in all...this school is very bad!

I graduated from AHS, and I firmly believe I received an outstanding education there. I'm now a successful executive editor, and my love of writing and English was born in the AHS AP English classes. LIke everything in life, the school is what you make of it. So many of my classmates have gone on to have outstanding careers and successful lives. AHS gives every student the opportunity to excel in life, but the students have to choose to get involved, study hard and make the most of those precious high school years. I loved my experience there.

I am a student at alleghany. And so far i have learned that although ur school is not the best, it is what you make it to be. I appreciate the architecture, and history of the school. Now that we are facing state budget cuts, we will not be able to have a new school. Which is greatl needed. As there are mold and mildew issues esbestos. And not to mention the cockroaches. If your child has allergy problems.. it is not a good place for them. And if they have asthma.. forget it. We have no air conditioning. And for the first few months of school it can top 95 degrees. Just think about it before you send your child here..
