First of all Holmes has disappointed us in so many ways. Unfortunately this is the only public middle and high school in Covington. My daughter has autism among other disabilities. She has an IEP. The school has failed her in some many ways. She has been suspended twice. Taken to the hospital from school for privacy I will not disclose. She has spent more time out of school than in and not once have we ever called her out of school. School kept sending her home and than we get a truancy letter. Also they determined she could not be safe or keep others safe and we were forced to make a decision in 5 mins either alternative school or virtual learning. We will not send her to alternative learning due to the location which was on a major highway. My daughter who is high elopement and they wanted to send her there and they said they are concerned about her safety I think not. So we had no choice but to do virtual which my daughter will not be successful in meeting goals. So the principal refuses to speak with us and refers us to the special Ed director all the time. Her teacher is nice but has not advocated much for Emily. Oh how I wish we could go back to her elementary school where everyone was great and knew how to keep her safe. She met her goals there and loved her special Ed teacher. HOLMES Middle school is a huge disappointment. If you have a special needs child please please do not send them here. If your child has behaviors they will seem like they care at first but eventually you will be in our shoes. A school who would rather not deal with a child who has emotional issues. I understand they have to keep others safe but special needs at the school is at the bottom of the list. Good luck if you send your special needs child there. Now we are in a position where we have to try to educate her ourselves. The school is to provide material but yet to do so and she gets 2 hours a week with a teacher what is that going to do ? Well that is my review.

not much communication when your kid gets bullied all the time and the teachers themselves are too afraid to do anything just another rough inner city school that has been out of control and only getting worse.

Moved my son from a private school where he was stagnated and not growing. He's thriving in a larger school and believe it or not the students are kept more in line that at his previous one. Way to G Holmes.. The offer so much more that a small private school can not.

I was a student there when it first opened, entering in 6th grade. The whole school is a joke, with incapable staff and students who just stopped caring. As mentioned in another review, favoritism is seen here. It even occurs in the high school. Bullying is also ignored, from a personal experience of mine. My parents reported it to the school, but they wouldn't do anything because the bully was the star player of the football team. What a disgrace.

I am currently a student at Holmes Middle School, and I hope I do not offend anyone, but life here is horrible. There are a million reasons why I don't like HMS, but unfortuantly I cannot describe all of them. So allow me to just list them. They don't really care about bullying (trust me, I know), they don't provide good services and needs, the school is highly unsanitory and unhealthy, they have an unaffective way of delivering information to students like me, they're not honest about a lot of things and usually make promises that they don't keep, they're hypocrites who criticize students although they usually do half the wrong things students do, they have a bad influence on us student (language, behavior, etc.), they use their money mainly on parties and celebrations rather than things we really need like better lunch and febreze in the restrooms, they don't care about a student's personal life which may be a reason why they don't behave well in class, they're either too hard or too easy with discipline (never just right), they're usually not very nice, they show favoritism towards 'popular' and 'cool' kids and I'm running out of space. Point be made, I dislike the school...

Found out recently that a middle school teacher/cheer leading coach had a relationship with one of the high school basketball players. It really disgusts me to think about it. And on top of that the middle school principal knew about it the whole time, as did the basketball coach but it was told to keep hush hush because he was the star player. Makes me sick. Glad I put my kids in private and not Holmes.
