There are so many things to say about this school, but I will point out only a few. This school has a difficult time not only hiring appropriate staff, but also the retention in this school staff from superintendent to teachers, to janitors is absurd. They do not listen to their students when there are real complaints, such as harassment, bullying, theft, etc. Parents are not included in events or learning experiences in appropriate time or even including in the classroom experience such as having an outlie of their daily lessons, or homework, or test. The staff all around lacks communication to parents regarding the children and do not listen to the parents when it comes to parents knowing what is best for their child. The school does what they think is appropriate even if it is not in the best interest of the child or parent/ guardian. Schools are to be for education not a substitute for parents. If the staff at Covington took their jobs a little more serious and had more integrity than perhaps the shape of our next generation of children would be better rounded for taking on the responsibilities that await them after graduation. I can only hope that sooner rather than later Covington will see the potential it has once it weeds out the bad apples.

Covington Community School Corporation is why I moved here when we started our family. No school corp is perfect, obviously, but Covington has been a great school for both my children. My youngest (now in middle school) is in advanced courses working in subjects that I didn't take until late high school or in college--& doing great! (There is a lot of homework I can't help him w/ now because either I've forgotten how to do it & a couple I don't even have experience! Luckily, he rarely needs/asks for my help! LOL)My oldest is in his 1st year of high school & he has special needs. I cannot convey how wonderful the Special Needs teaching staff is there! They really care about the students & they go above & beyond for each of them. I feel blessed that my son gets to be around such good, caring people everyday. My only complaint would be that because he's more on the "severe" side of autism/special needs that he had to be bussed 30 minutes away to another school all through grade school because they "weren't equipped" to have a special needs classroom in Covington grade school. I felt like that was baloney. We have one of the better schools in the area, yet, we had to ship our kids off to a struggling "B" school that did not have a special needs teaching team that was enthusiastic & helping the kids to reach their goals near as well as the team he has at Covington. So, that wasn't a good experience. I moved here & pay taxes here to get the best I can possibly get for my boys, so, that was a disappointment...I really hope they can change that program for parents who will have special needs children in elementary that need an "All-Star" team because early intervention is so important!
