Absolutely no support for any students who don’t fit into the box that they’re prepared to teach from. Like, at all. It’s embarrassing. Administrators are unapologetic, dishonest and discriminatory. Absolutely zero conflict resolution assistance for the students whatsoever. Physical altercations between students not uncommon. Police called to the school far more regularly than should be happening with a K-5 public school this size. Students get singled out by administration as “bad seeds” and things don’t go well for those students. Not a lot of options in town and from what I’ve heard the other options aren’t a lot better, but I struggle to find a single good thing to say about this school.

I have had both of my sons go to this school. I have had a mix of both bad and good encounters with this. My olds first start here wasn't a good experience for him or me, however he returned 3rd-5th and had a complete different experience with no issues. My youngest who is now in his 3rd grade year now isn't having the best experience as he had his previous years here.

My son attends here. We moved back to Oregon from Las Vegas for most of his life. He has been going to this school for 3 years now. It was great in the beginning, it seems to have gone down hill since then. My son is in 5th grade now. Every day he becomes more and more uwanting to attend. In his words exactly the staff and teachers "don't seem interested and don't seem to care to be there. " Last night he told me his teacher when faced with mildly difficult students says "I don't want to deal with this right now. " When I was in school teachers didn't say things like that. It makes a kid feel like the teacher doesn't have their best interest at heart. Not only that but he feels rushed through certain academics and doesn't feel like he is getting help he needs this year particularly in math. So I will be taking the initiative to get him that extra help. I do like Class Dojo, but I would prefer more one on one communication with the teachers. Feel like it's relied on way to much. Lunches have gone down hill at Bohemia. Making friends has been hard for him as well at this school. Also have bullying problems with students. I don't want to bash it to much... Because I know it's a long ime school of Cottage Grove. But when you notice your student coming home exhausted constantly, not being engaged in his school life, and feeling down about his academic structure within the school. That's a problem.

Between all my kids, we have spent 14 years at Bohemia. In the time we've been there, we have found most of the teachers to be excellent, an efficient staff, and excellent principals. Over the years they have acquired several grants for technology enabling the kids to learn a lot of technical skills. They've also updated the library so the kids have lots of recent books to choose from. They've also invested in a music program. It isn't the nicest building, but the people and programs are great.

My five year old and I moved to Cottage Grove in August of this year (2011). I was skeptical about him going to a small town school because my son has some anxiety issues. All I can say is, "WOW"...This school is AMAZING! From day one, he was assigned a special assistant to help him personally adjust. He gets his own personal older student that sits with him at breakfast due his social anxiety. He has his SPED bus that picks him up away from the regular bus stop because the kids bullied him, and he refused to ride the regular bus after that. The principle, Jackie, is amazing!!!! She has always accomadated us for whatever my son needs. And she personally called me to see if she could offer any assistance in a recent situation my son told me about. I would say, this school is definitely a school that a guardian can have their child attend with out any worries. They take the "No Child Left Behind Act" seriously. I'm a big city girl, and I love this school! Wow, this was long..but it shows you how much this school is great!
