this place is the worst! none of the staff does anything when someone is getting bullied they let it happen. they only step up when fights happen because of the bullying. people are very disrespectful here. the bathrooms always smell like smoke. people smoke in the bathrooms. nothing happens to them. Mr. Asrar the counselor is super great. he's super helpful with student's mental health. he always lets us come in and talk when he has time. things that have happened here are crazy. lots of fights. people cause problems. one of my friends got harassed by another student touching her butt. she told the teacher what happened the student got sent to the office. later on nothing happened to him he came back 10 minutes later to class! he didn't get suspended or any referral etc. he even said so himself! this place does nothing!

Excellent basic skills teachers as well as most all regular Ed teachers! Highly recommend!

Review is for Grades 7-8 as we plan to move to another high school in the future. Alright so let me get started with the environment at the school, on the outside its appearance looks very new and modern, but upon looking inside many of the class rooms are still outdated with the exception of the enclave side. Men's bathrooms aren't in good shape is one bathroom has a broken stall door and the other bathroom near the enclave has been missing soap for over a month, which I believe is a health concern. As my son tells me, he never feels comfortable using the either restroom as groups of kids enter the bathroom and start yelling, screaming, and banging on the stall doors. On the educational side, there are some materials that are very well taught while others need to be re-plannned as the order some parts of a material aren't taught very well. No comments on food and my son doesn't eat lunch or nutrition at school. The general vibe that the school gives off can be sort of overwhelming as many things albeit not necessary, will cost money. Some teachers are friendly and inviting while others are more strict.

This is for the middle school. The curriculum is quite easy for the average classes and for some honors classes. It seems to cater more toward the medium to lower end on the academic scale so that most will do well with A's or B's. If the same course was taken in irvine or Newport, the same student would probably do no better than C.Some of the teachers are great and are progressive in their approach to educate the young minds. Others are quite stale in their approach using the same tests year after year. The principal and counselor should review the curriculum, the students and always be challenging the students. They are some kids with less than a 3.0 avg in honors classes... they are clearly misplaced and should be reviewed. The school activities and encouragement to get involve are strong, so that is a plus. I am sure there are cliques, but I have not heard of any bullying. Another plus for rhe school for creating a positive environment. So that parents stop taking their kids to another school, I recommend CMMS step up their offerings for stronger STEM classes and make sure all your students are appropriately placed in the classes that would nurture and educate them the most.

I have spent my entire middle and high school years here. All of the teachers encourage student success, and that kind of environment is very welcoming. As for grades, the scores tend to be balanced between high and low, leading to an unsurprisingly average 'C' grade. Although there are some very intelligent students, there are also students who do not bother trying, which is probably due to something that occurs in their life, such as family problems or negative influence. Speaking of which, drugs have little-to-no influence in this secure school, and are severely punished if detected. One of the most positive things I love about this school is the dedication of the staff. They work extremely hard to help students with anything in general, and sometimes they organize a class event as a reward for the students' efforts to succeed through school. Overall, I am absolutely proud to have gone to this high school and I cherish every memory acquired here.

This school is pretty great. The teachers are wonderful, i don't think i have had a teacher i haven't liked. I haven't been going to Costa Mesa long. So far i like it a lot i am in 8th grade at the time and the programs are great. Students who struggle get chances to change. Teachers and even some other students help each other earn a better future. I can say its not the perfect school but its a good enough one to give me confidence. Knowing others are out their caring about me. Their are bully's but not obsessive ones. When theirs a problem staff is always welcome you for help.

My son started 7th grade here and so far we love it! The teachers are great, this school has so many opportunities to help children stay on task. They offer after school tutoring, they have a zap program to help kids get all of there homework turned in instead of just falling behind. My son is doing great here, his grades are up, hes in honors classes, and has been invited into the DELTA program. There is a teen center right there on campus where two days a week he can go do homework before attending his sport on campus. SO FAR SO GOOD. ;)

Do not send your child here. Low test scores, bad teachers and coaches. The principal allows the coaches and teachers to bully the children. Spanish and Math teachers are below Average.

Costa Mesa High is a great school. I am currently going into 8th Grade and the first year experience was great. Sorta. Good things about Mesa: Some teachers are great Friendly asb members tell you where classes are in the first few days of school Bad things: Most students (7th grade) are very, dumb. Some teachers may be strict and make you do ALOT of extra worth Find out more if you come to mesa ( too lazy to type more )
