It's really hard to continue to instill the values I've worked hard to instill when I have no reinforcement from the authority figures in their life away from me. The amount of drama and physical fighting might be a result of the lack of support and good influences in our offices their at Gibbs. To add a positive the guidance office is full of caring, loving supportive adults.

Gibbs High School is not the best school for parental involvement and communication, but it is better than it's neighboring school Halls High School. Although the teachers lack effective communication from the head staff, they do genuinely care for the students. I suggest being consistent with your parental involvement so your child doesn't fall through their communication gap.

In my opinion, the atmosphere at the High school is a direct reflection of the effects of busing our kids to the inner city for middle school. This instills in them that they are merely political pawns and have no real worth other than filling a quota to insure funding for Holston middle school. My family and I moved to the Gibbs community for the schools. We've been promised a middle school by every politician running for office. My guess is that we will never see a middle school. We are now preparing our home to put on the market. We love this community but are becoming painfully aware that this is north knoxville, not west knoxville.
