My kids currently go to Blanche Moore. They have been there since Pre-K & Kinder (4 years). This school is great, any problems or questions are addressed. The teachers are great and friendly. One of my children have a learning disability and they are on top of it making sure she is where she needs to be. She isn't treated any differently.

All staff members are on board when it comes to helping our students with learning differences. We differentiate our instruction to meet the specific needs of our students. For example, the parents, administration, the counselor, the special education team, and all teachers who work with the student hold regular meetings to communicate the goals, progress, successes, and any areas that need to be adjusted to provide the most seamless educational experience for each student that we can. The collaboration here is frequent and very professional. I have seen wonderful progress in the students that we work with here at Moore.

They have turned it around the last couple of years. Just look at the test scores.

Moore Elementary is among 26 nominees selected to apply for a Blue Ribbon award, the federal government s way of recognizing schools for academic excellence and for improvement in mandated test scores. Moore was chosen because its five-year data showed the school s math scores rose 31 percentage points and its reading scores improved 17 percent points. In both subjects, students had passing rates of more than 90 percentage points, making the school exemplary in those subject areas. Moore is the only Coastal Bend school nominated for the 2011 award. The agency breaks nominees into two categories: student performance improvement and those scoring in the top 10 percent on the state test. Final notification will be announced in September 2011.
