This is a horrible school with a horrible Principal. This is basically an inner-city school disguised as a private Catholic school. A majority of the kids come to this school on vouchers and cause havoc in the classroom. Most of the kids who go to this school are not Catholic. The parents of the troubled kids are just as bad as the kids who go there. They don't respect the teachers either and their treatment of them matches this lack of respect. The teacher’s hands are tied because the student body is so bad. Their effectiveness is limited because they spend most of their time dealing with the bad kids. I don't know if it's because the principal is close to retirement or something else but he should have been let go a long time ago. He just doesn't care and doesn't back the teachers at all. The kids get away with horrible behavior and the teachers are left to fend for themselves. The Principal does not want to kick out any of the bad kids because all the seats won't be filled in the classroom and he doesn't want to do the work to recruit good kids to take his or her place. The Principal does not screen the kids coming in because he just wants to do the minimal work and fill the classrooms. It’s challenging to have troubled kids but it’s near futile when the Principal doesn’t do his job. He doesn't seem to care that troubled kids have ruined the teaching environment at the school.

Excellent teachers. My son transfered to St Matthias because of teachers not teaching at another Columbus Catholic school. St. Matthias has the best teachers who care and really enjoy teaching. My son is also being challenged to another level when they discovered that he was bored. Also the Principal is very active and structured. Our children are getting a great education.
