Ac is the worst thing that could ever happen to my child.Ac has way more opportunities than non Ac kids.My kid was telling me how Ac wins everything. My kid is a 4th grader in non Ac. A few days ago my kid told me that Ac won hand ball a game all the 4th graders were playing. Everything goes whatever Ac wants! Ac also won a pizza party because they won an event called the penny war. Overall Southside is worst than any school in Bartholomew County .

The school has been performing below average. The school do not have effective student development program for NON AC category student who mostly need more attention than a AC category student. The is no connect between parent and teacher and many a times teacher lacks or ignore parent communications or email sent to teacher. Repeated email and sometime phone call needed to set up a parent teacher meeting. The school do not have any established channel of communication for parent to communicate with school or class teacher. There is no visibility to student progress or the study which is being done at the school other than the quarter end report card. The segregation/discrimination of student at an elementary level between AC and NON AC is given the kids an opportunity to bully the Non AC student. Also, the studies and activities or teacher effort shown towards a NON AC student is below per. An equal opportunity needs to be provided to all level of the student and creating a discrimination of AC and NON AC and then NOT giving enough attention to NON AC is something school really needs to work on. I think school needs to do more.

It seems that TEAM class kids get far more chances to go to AC program. That's not fair for the remainder of the students!!!!!

Southside elementary school has some great programs, if your child can get into them. The problems I have with this school are, first, during my daughter's 3rd grade, two teachers combined classes for both math and writing out of sheer laziness, meaning that in each subject there were 60 kids! My daughter was intimidated due to the size, and fell behind. As a result, this year I pulled her out of Southside and have been homeschooling her to get her caught up. My son, who is a first grader has had a much better experience. He had Mrs. Gross for Kindergarten and Mrs. Mann for 1st grade, both of whom are exceptional teachers. My second bone to pick with Southside is the advanced programs they offer (Team and Academic Challenge). My daughter wanted desperately to get into the AC program, but didn't test quite high enough. She was devastated. The AC kids and Team kids are given far more opportunities, and are paraded around the school. I've talked to the administration about why they don't expand the program so the kids who want to be challenged have that opportunity, and they chalk it up to funding. Why is it so difficult to train other teachers they already have on staff??
