Scott Elementary is a wonderful school. Students are so cared for and safe. The couple issues we have had are immediately addressed. The principals are in it for the students and have been just amazing. Teachers have been there every step of the way ensuring our students are getting what they need to thrive. I HIGHLY recommend this elementary school.

I have been a Scott parent for a few years. My spouse and I volunteer in our children's classrooms on a weekly basis. We live in the neighborhood and have many friends whose children go to Scott.Academically, Scott has been a great place. Our kids have had a positive academic experience with their teachers. Our kids have made great friends at Scott. However, keeping our kids physically safe at Scott is a concern. A substitute teacher hit one of our kids with a wad of papers. The response from Scott was delayed. It took another teacher, myself, as well as going to the area supervisor to get a response from Scott. Our other child has been bullied and hurt by some kids at Scott. This has been an ongoing issue since September. He has been hurt in the bathroom, playground, and in class. He has come home with bruises and blood. He now has anxiety and depression. His body has started going into flight mode. At one point, we had to take him to the ER because his body stopped moving things through because of anxiety.Once we started to piece things together, we made Scott aware at the beginning of November. No response was taken, and 2 weeks later, the situation escalated to the bathroom incident. It continued to escalate to the ER situation. We brought the area supervisor into the situation, and he started working with Scott to put some measures in place. Incidents continued. After winter break, a different area supervisor was brought in to put some more measures in place. Today (1/30/25), our child was hurt again. As parents, our experience is that if you want your kid to be safe, you have to fight for it and not give in to unresponsiveness. You have to be obnoxious about it. You have to engage district-level personnel. I've waited for months to post this to give Scott a chance. I had it ready to post in January but waited to see how the new measures from the other area supervisor would play out. After my child was hurt again today, I feel I need to share our experience with other parents.

To be fair and clear I am providing this feedback on several teachers who are teaching 3rd grade. Principal is attempting to be supportive but the school is struggling. School is understaffed. The size of my son's classroom is 27 kids and his teacher is incapable of establishing instructional control over the classroom. There are several kids in the class who are on some sort of a support plan but leave early so teacher is not required to have assistant. My son has been receiving only one page math homework for about half of his year and no other study materials besides being told to read and go over 10 spelling words. Teacher majorly failed at every aspect of communication with me and the only time she would communicate was to notify me that my son's behaviors has been progressing (without telling me a full story). We are hoping for better forth grade and better teacher but if that does not happen we plan on switching schools. The only thing that is holding me back from changing schools is my son begging me not to leave his friends.

This school has gone downhill. Employees are rude n disrespectful to students, the principal n staff do not care for the wellbeing of the children. The teachers need to be more involved with the safety n care n not the staff n employees .

A few things stand out to me as of 2022: (1) an active create Parent Teacher Association that has regular calendar of events, 45-minute monthly meetings, and uses technology well to engage families as chaperones, volunteers, etc. (2) despite a long string of interim principals, the steady and capable vice-principal together with teachers that have worked at the same school for 20+ years kept the place humming along as if no principal is needed (now that they have a full-time principal, my greatest concern is that they'll come in and change manage stuff that is working well). (3) In D49, from which I transferred my child, teachers and principals did not act autonomously because everyone was paying attention to drama at the board of education (which was considering banning the use of the word "equity" early in this school year). By contrast in D11, teachers and administrators spend more time looking at what kids are doing and less time focused above on drama at the policy level. The result? Without prompting, my homeroom teacher Ms. Cano took effective action to get my little learner additional challenging work even before she was officially tested for G&T. This school's teachers PAID ATTENTION TO CHILDREN, rather than to policy dramas at the board. I benefitted by learning, through nationally-normed tests, that my little daughter is ready for additional challenging materials. The loving support each teacher provides her - looking out for her - is amazing. I TRUST the Scott Elementary team.

Fantastic school. Dr. Roth is an amazing principal and all of the teaches that I have been involved with are very caring and great educators. Even the office staff is very involved with the children and they are always there to help. I highly recommend Scott Elementary.

Scott is an excellent school with great teachers and administration. Their special needs department goes way above and beyond. Our children have had a wonderful experience at Scott.

We had a few great years at Scott but this year the school seemed to go downhill FAST! I cannot pinpoint the problem, others than a few terrible teachers. Dr. Roth is a kindhearted man, but I feel he sits on issues until they become larger problems and then he is constantly putting out fires. I would not recommend this school. My child fell so far behind this year.

Horrible experience with Tamara Sobin and Mr. Roth. I love the teachers. I took my kids out of this school due to the poor leadership.

This school is wonderful!!!!!!! We moved here from Pennsylvania this past May. We had our concerns about bullying (which there was a lot of back in Pennsylvania) and if our daughter would be to far ahead or behind in course work. I am very happy to say that THERE IS NO bullying at Scott. Unlike PA where it was all talk and no action on Bullying, It IS NOT ALLOWED here at Scott. If bullying happens Dr. Roth is right there on top of it putting a stop to it. We had our parent teacher conference yesterday and very happy to say that our daughter has straight (A's) and is very active in 2 clubs and band. Keep up the great work Dr. Roth and staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott Elementary is a school full of well-trained, professional, yet fun staff. The teachers hold the students to a high standard, while giving them the personal attention they need. We have never had a teacher we didn't adore and respect immensely. The PTA sponsors a wide variety of events for the community, and finds ways to encourage and support the staff and students throughout the year. A school this great has to have great leadership too. Our principal leads with confidence, but is not tucked away in his office away from the action either. The students LOVE him and he's often seen around the school grounds playing basketball with the kids or wearing silly hats that make the kids giggle. I think the kids love him that much more because he is often like a big kid himself. Our family feels blessed to be a part of the Scott community!

Love Scott! The teacher's and staff are amazing - and the parental involvement really brings everything together. My son has attended Scott from Kindergarten on (now in 4th grade) and I have been beyond pleased with the learning environment!

We moved into the Scott Elementary school area last year and could not be happier. Not only are they academically superior, their staff and the community has been very welcoming. I was afraid that my daughter would fall behind and not be socially welcomed because she was a new student, and hadn't attended the school since kindergarten, but her 3rd grade teacher went above and beyond to make sure that she got what she needed and the kids welcomed her with open arms. This is such a wonderful school!

We have been attending Scott Elementary for 5 years. This school is awesome, the parent involvement, the teachers have been so great that I would trust them, I would call them friends, and I am so pleased with who my son is becoming. I know that is home life but I would give a lot of credit to the school. Any time I have had an issue I went in was always able to get to the right person and the issue was corrected immediately. We are lucky to be a part of Scott Elementary !!

This is our second year at Scott Elementary. Dr. Roth is an excellent principal- he plays outside with the kids, gets to know them and gets to know the parents. The teachers have been outstanding, thinking outside of the box and making learning fun. I can highly recommend Scott Elementary.

So much to say and so few characters to say it with. We are in our third year at Scott and couldn't be happier. The staff is phenomenal. The teaching is exceptional. The love every adult at that school shows for each child is amazing. Our daughter enjoys every minute of it and is learning so much. They are a school that keeps up with the times and keeps kids involved with their learning. With so much "teach to the test" happening it is refreshing to see teachers provide an education that is so fulfilling for the students and parents alike. I look forward to our 3 remaining years at Scott and getting to know the rest of the teachers as we move up each grade.

After reading a few reviews one thing changed a little. We have a new principle. The great thing is that he is really involved and works hard to know the children and you see him all the time with a smile greeting the kids. We were excited to stay at Scott this year. My son is in first grade and they were awarded a DOD grant to supply the kids with ipads. Technology is coming into this school as well as the whole district. I have loved that the teachers have taught my son to love learning and love reading and math, so far.

This is truly a wonderful school. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, the grounds are well kept, and the community is always very supportive of the school and school activities.
