We have a 7th grader at Russell Middle School. We have been so pleased with his experience at Russell, both this year and last year. As an employee at a different school district, we could easily choice our students elsewhere but we will continue to choose to send our kids to Russel, our neighborhood school. The school feels like a small community, my student knows teachers and staff at all different grade levels. The smaller size of this schools allows for time and space for the adults to make great connections with the kids. If we do have any questions or concerns, the staff members we reach out to have always been very responsive and caring. This is a great place to be a student.

Russell Middle School is truly a special school. I have a current 6th grader who thoroughly enjoys Russell...which speaks volumes (middle school can be such rough time for some). The teachers are caring, respectful, and strive to challenge the kids academically. The support staff engages with and assists the kiddos. The administration is phenomenal and always is available to listen to not only suggestions but concerns as well. Everyone is seeking how to make a positive impact on these kids! The extracurricular activities and sports are something our student embraces and loves as well (the coaches are the best!)

Students at this school are given so many opportunities to explore their interests and are assisted by helpful and wonderful staff.

The teachers at Russell are professional, dedicated, and friendly. My kids have excelled in every aspect of their lives at Russell. The academic program is great, the music program is top notch, and the extracurricular activities are fun and engaging for the kids. I highly recommend it!

I have sent 3 students to Russell. They all have had a great experience. It's a positive atmosphere from staff and students. They had a lot of opportunities especially within the performing arts.

Russell Middle School is truly a hidden gem within the D11 community. They have excellent teachers ,staff and a strong administrative team to lead the way. They are a performing arts school with offerings in choir, band and orchestra. Many extracurriculars and sports. Safety is first and foremost at Russell. We have on site security, a school resource officer and strong visibility in the hallways, classrooms and events.I would highly recommend Russell Middle School as your student's middle school home.

Public school at its prime mediocrity. Teachers are nice, but the school as a whole has no idea you exist, and doesn’t care about you as long as you don’t get in trouble. They like punishing kids with ISDs and ISSs left and right, but I have yet to see any positive feedback other than a slip of paper at the end of a semester

My daughter started this school this year and it has been great!!! I will say that this district and this school is a way better option then any D49 schools. They have so many extra classes here it is amazing!!!

at this school im being bullied for being non-binary and having pronouns of they/them. i took it to my counsler unlike the princiable, she did everything she could to help me and was the ONLY adult to put effort into my problem. im still being bullied and nothing has been done.

We pulled our daughter out of a charter school that was supposed to be a "better education". She didn't fit in and was ostracized for it. Her academic performance and social interactions suddenly became so much more positive at Russell. She also loves her orchestra class.

Total indifference of a school administration to WHAT is actually happening in this school - bullying that comes from teachers and students.

Bullying is blooming in this school. And it comes from teachers (!!!!) also.

Not happy with this school. A lot of bullying and no action to correct or ensuring that corrective actions are working. My grand-daugher comes home in tears every day, being picked on, yelled at, teased & called names. She was even slammed into her locker. I now understand why so many parents are electing home schooling.
