My son completed his kindergarten at Goosehill, and we are very happy to see how much he had learned and grown in a year. He is now able to read short fiction and non-fiction books on his own, and he begs us to take him to the Cold Spring Harbor Library every week. All parents in his class were very involved, from volunteering in school activities to after-school social events & play dates. Very close knit. Class sizes are small (less than 20) so each kid gets plenty of attention and teachers really tailor their teaching according to my son's specific interests and abilities. This school convinces us that we made the right decision to relocate to Lloyd Harbor. Highly recommended if you are searching for the best school district for your own kids.

I cannot have imagined a more idyllic two years for my daughter. The attention to each child's own educational journey is incredible. I have such admiration and respect for the way that Principal Herschlein runs her school. She sits and talks with kids in the lunchroom and, as a reading specialist, pulls each child into her office to help with their progress. There is a strong focus on self-esteem and being kind toward others. Children get one on one attention from occupational therapists, physical therapists, and reading specialists even if they do not have a diagnosis or an official issue. The teachers are dynamic and creative and work on everything from taking care of baby turtles from the fish hatchery, to creating "passports" for the children to "visit" other countries. There are plenty of down-to-earth parents and more diversity than is readily apparent (a handful of parents work at the CSH Laboratory as scientists and some are from China and India). The level of communication is amazing. I received a phone call from the lovely secretary to let me know, one day, that my daughter's bus had been delayed and not to worry. A very special school.

Our daughter attended Goosehill for the first half of kindergarten. We were very sad to leave the school. The teachers were attentive and seemed to understand her development just as we saw it. Some of the older teachers seemed "ready for retirement" and uninterested. But that was the exception, not the rule.

Excellent school -- very close knit -- just kindergarten and first grade -- Mrs. Bellino the principal takes a very close interest in each and every child in the school as if they were her own. State of the Art equipment available and small classrooms -- Excellent first steps for children in this district! Parent of two children who passed through this school.
