I attended one of the worst school districts on LI, and was determined to have my kids attend one of the best. CSH was everything I wanted. Small class room size, graduating class is 120 students, great sports programs, culture of cool to be smart, great friends and parents. Kids were well prepared for college and careers. It’s a socioeconomic environment of success and wealth with many self made people who have very grounded morals, values and principles. Kids made great friendships there, as we did too as parents.

Pros rest mainly with the schools themselves, cons with the now dominant community of parents. Small classes, safe, caring teachers. Some outstanding teachers who go above and beyond and many duds. CSH used to be a classy quiet community of educated families where no one knew who was wealthy and who wasn't...that was not the priority. Now the district has been newly flooded with beer bellied finance bros and families who have inherited a business who are desperate to show their net worth to anyone who will look and relive their own youth through their kids sports. The social environment feels like a High School from the 80's except the mean kids are dominant. Many families pull kids each year from the school due to as many people call it "an awful grade". The secret sauce to all of this is not only the lack of diversity but mainly the lack of economic diversity. Parents want so badly for their kids to be cool they even supply their very young kids alcohol for parties. If you are leaving NYC and looking for a progressive learning and social environment this is not it. Our town recently voted in a BOE member who openly supports "Don't Say Gay" and rejects inclusion. The new Superintendent seems to be capable and intelligent and we are hopeful that she can move the district ahead and help it not go back in time.

I love this school. I can’t say enough good things about the staff, students and their parents. The most beautiful place to live and the best school.

Some reviews here are very unfair. We are very happy with the staff and the administration. They are very supportive, responsive, and accessible. The class sizes are small. The school's academic environment is rigorous but not overly high pressure. The social environment is very friendly and inclusive. We are very happy here!

Smoke and mirrors. They are more concerned with how things appear on paper then the actual substance of learning, developing character and intergrity.

We moved to this area when my older son started high school and my younger son junior high. The school has welcomed them and the education it provides is outstanding - I was surprised to read the sour grapes reviews which appeared to be published by same person on the same day. Our experience has been extremely positive and my son graduates with many colleges approaching him. I would recommend this school extremely highly

This school is all smoke and mirrors. Teachers are allowed to tutor their own students outisde of school for money! Enough said.

This school may look great on paper, but there is a 1980s level bullying problem here. It's bizarre. Kids still care what country clubs you belong to. Looking forward to going to college and meeting people outside of this very sheltered community.

this school has some great strengths...beautiful facilities.Unfortunately, there is a very real lack of leadership on the part of the current administration. Most glaringly at LLoyd Harbor Elementary School. The bullying problems within the school continues to escalate. Parents are enraged and getting no real substantive change or response. The administration at large needs to take some significant steps to combat this culture. In addition, there is shockingly no enrichment program for the primary or elementary age children. Test scores continue to slip, and it is time to make a change before CSH is left behind.
