Countryside is a bad school forever and it has a bad reputation

My daughter had an accident at school and was told she could not leave without parent permission. So being i called and gave her permission to leave. They denied my daughter of leaving school and said an email was also needed when they told her all they needed was a call. All my daughter was gonna do was run home and change and come back. The staff and committee specially melanie and another lady in the front i think davis gave her a hard time telling her she couldn’t leave when i specifically called and gave her permission. Don’t think it’s okay to give MY daughter a hard time about leaving when i gave her permission and I am her mother and was VERY aware. The staff and committee are very unhelpful and rude specially to our children. And not only do many kids leave a day unnoticed for no reason but my daughter can’t leave because of an accident and permission.

I am very grateful for the staff and new principles at the school. Countryside has had a bad reputation for years but they did a 180 this year and now students are leaving phu and elhs (5 star) to come to chs. (2019/2020)

This is a school where very few teachers and no administrators actually care about the students, their progress, taking care of bullying, or effective communication with parents. I will be attempting to get my child enrolled elsewhere as soon as possible.

In my child's first year here, he has one teacher announce to the class that she hates her first period class, another teacher tell students his paycheck was more important than his student's education, and doesn't bathe to the point students cannot stand next to him long without getting nauseous, and another teacher who told another class that while she knew they were mostly male, please try and pick up the mess.. Teachers wait until the last day of the grading period to put in their grades, which gives students no time to refute or challenge them, and one teacher required an entire period class to turn in assignments before another because of a few kids misbehaving in that period. One teacher gives out donuts to students while she is being evaluated, but not to the other periods of the day, and another teacher has been observed swearing in and out of the classroom. Nice first year here. Can't wait to see how the rest goes.

Best school in Pinellas county. You get what you put in... if you put in f- work your gonna get a f- but if you actually try a little you can succeed here.

I went to CHS for my freshman and sophomore years and those were okay years. But the staff are so mean, the teachers are overworked, stressed, and they're also mean. Too fast of a pace for learning. I failed so I will be repeating sophomore year AT DUNEDIN HIGH SCHOOL. I will stay away from CHS for good. Terrible staff! Terrible teachers! Hallways are too crowded to walk through without being late to class. Honestly. Terrible.

Countryside HS's strength is the principal, Mr. Schlereth. The county office needs to back off as they are clueless.

I went to Countryside, and I hated it. The only bright side was that 90% of the teachers were amazing. They cared, and gave ample help to those who needed it. The administration, however, was entire consumed with the idea of punishing students. It got to the point where freshmen would ask how to get something done and all we'd say is "Have a parent call, otherwise they won't listen.". The guidance program is awful; whenever you need to find a councilor ( which is always a last resort), they are never in the office. I found that the only way to get a meeting with a councilor was to wait outside their door, even missing classes to wait until one finally showed up. The receptionists were often rude and patronizing, and every other week a fight is breaking out. I wouldn't go back if you payed me a million dollars.
