I have a kindergartner and first grader currently in attendance at Cooper. After reading the reviews, I question what happened for parents to feel such disappointment. One staff member's actions are not a reflection of all of the staff. I have nothing but good things to say about the administration, teachers, and staff that I have had the pleasure of interacting with. My boys love their teachers and always have a story to tell about their day. I love that Mr Stoke knows my children by name and that he is actively involved in the daily routines of the students and staff. I've been in the school during operating hours and he is usually walking around, visiting classrooms, and engaging with students, staff, and visitors. Both of my kids have or have had Mrs Clawson and Mrs Green for kindergarten which has been an amazing experience for my boys and myself. I'm grateful for the support I have received, as I too attend school, work, and parent with very little help and Cooper Academy has made us feel like family. Thank you Cooper Academy team!!!

Cooper has a culture of dysfunction. Disciplinary issues are swept under the rug and are some times dealt with by putting a blanket on the child who is acting up. The administration at Cooper is very uncaring. When approached with a concern from a parent they do not respond. Mr. Stoke will not return parent phone calls. Parents are ignored completely. If you have a gifted student Cooper will not offer them anything that they need. They are ignored and told to do Lexia by the AP. The school provides no challenge at all. The only concern the school has is making sure it keeps it’s title one status so it can receive more funding for who knows what. My fifth grader spent most of this year with little to no math instruction. The administration doesn’t even care that the whole fifth grade did not get math instruction. The amount of bullying that is tolerated at this school is unbelievable. Kids are kicked, slapped and threatened with zero consequences for the offender.

This school has gone down hill drastically for the past 3 years, I'm really concern about my 4th grader.

This is school doesn't help children that are under privileged. They have underlying racial concerns. They will make your smart child appear dumb and find reasons to put things on their records so they can appear to have a behavior issues.

This school can't keep good teachers. The administration changes frequently as well changing everything from dress code to start times to homework policy, the very structure of learning.

We love Cooper Academy, and the ratings will never match up to the love, and family you will feel while attending there.

My son is a student at Cooper Elementary School. He started in the Blended Classroom with Mrs. Mundt and the wonderful and caring teacher aides that worked with her. My son has grew leaps and bounds under their care and instruction. He started as a child unable to communicate his needs or control his behaviors. He left her classroom excited about learning and being around people. He came home everyday more improved. Cooper Elementary continued to nurture and educate my son this school year with Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Marino. He learned to read and a new language. He continued to excel in the classroom this year and at his most recent IEP meeting no longer met the requirements for Special Education. I thank the wonderful teaching and administrative staff at Cooper Elementary for all they do everyday not just my son but every student. The school report card grade does not reflect the caring, compassionate and knowledgeable teaching/administrative staff at the school. We do not live in the school district but chose to do the commute to and from the school this past 3yrs because of the excellent education our son has received there. We love the school!! My daughter went to Cooper K-5 - she has now moved on to middle school. And my son is currently in 4th grade. Both have been blessed with caring and involved teachers. The school offers many many opportunities for the parents to interact with their kid(s) and the teachers (field trips, dances, fun days, etc.). The teachers make an effort to know you (and yes, they will come up to you at the local Walmart to say hi!) and have a relationship with you. Truly an excellent neighborhood school.

We LOVE Cooper!! My oldest has been there since kindergarten and is about to finish third. My second will start kindergarten there next year. It is a fantastic school with amazing hard working teachers, and the best PTA ever!

Cooper is a small town school with hard working teachers and caring administration. The students learn responsibility for their own learning and enjoy their time there. I feel good about my children going to Cooper.

To the parent who just bought a home in Cobblestone.... Why would you give a 1 star rating to a school that your child has never even attended..... because your unfounded perception that the school is in a "low income" area, and it must be bad? And why would you buy a home in the Cooper school district if you didn't want your child to go there. I have some advice for you..... move back to Wake!
