I am responding to one persons review of the school system. They state that 60% of students, from Centennial, drop out of college in the 2nd year. This has been true of college students in general even back to the 1990s. I remember at the time seeing that statistic and being blown away by all the dropout rate. I don’t know that it is something that should be used to measure the school as much as a sign that some 18 yr olds shouldn’t be pushed to try to figure out their lives and careers that early.

The district school board of ISD 12/Centennial and its administration have shown their true colors this year. They care more about pandering to the parents who have made this pandemic political than they do about ensuring their students and staff are kept safe and healthy. They have no covid mitigation measures in place (although I believe the Centennial Middle School is doing his best) - no masking, no distancing, no contact tracing. They have repeatedly shown that they are unwilling to change their stance even as the case numbers and community spread continues to rise.Interim Superintendent Jeffrey Holmberg is actively putting our students at risk and unwilling to address parents' concerns regarding COVID. He, and the schoolboard, have completely disregarded the Minnesota Department of Health's and the CDC's recommendations for keeping our students safe. I hope all the current board members are voted out at their next election and I pray that Jeffrey Holmberg is not made superintendent. I no longer have trust that any of these people would put the health and safety and well-being of our children and teachers and staff first.

was happy with this district until the new superintendent Holmberg came and his complete disregard of covid safety measures. He’s so set on his ways and really smug about it. Even after an alarming increasing numbers of covid he refuses to change his ways. Says he will continue to stick with original plan. But he always says he is wanting ti keep our kids safe. Sorry this guy needs to go. A lot of people are very disappointed in the leadership of holmberg and his board members who are too afraid to stand up to him. Way to keep kids safe superintendent. They also got approved for a $300,000 grant and they order the free tests anyone in Minnesota could. Lol. Also, they allow yelling, screaming, dancing, sign holders and just parents who act insane and really freighting at the meetings. Disgusted . I love how they focus in anti bullying but allow parents at the board meetings to bully people who don’t share their same beliefs.

Seeing these reviews I think it's time for an update. Centennial School reputation is all smoke and mirrors. Yes they have high standardized test scores. Simply because their good teachers have figured out how to best teach to the test. Now reality is that the district administration has reduced programming drastically. The class sizes are significantly higher than reported and their is little diversity in programming so students lack choice and are not as well rounded to meet the challenges of today's world. Yes, many kids go to college but they lack the ability to succeed and drop out by their second year. An dependent audit showed one graduating class had a 60% dropout rate by their second year. If you are set on moving to the area, choose a neighboring district for a well rounded individual with better programming.

My daughter started out her freshman year an arts school called spcpa 2 years ago. Her nor i liked it one bit. the academics were horrible and the teachers did not do there job well at all. they paid more attention to the arts aspects then the educational parts of this school which i really disliked. Anyway, i had her finish out the year. So, her sophomore year she and i decided CHS was the best choice. She loves it, as i do too:) It is her second year going to this school and she has gotten better grades then ever. There or so many reasons why i love this school and i definately recommend it!
