St Phillip is a good faith based school. The teachers are really dedicated to their students . They communicate on a regular basis and are very accessible . I noticed that some of the parents who have negative feedback about the school are the ones who were never active parents ,they never show up for conferences , their kids had behavior issues etc. We as parents are just as responsible for our kids academic success. They offer tutoring , a school therapist , music , art, choir, University of Chicago Stem (Math), the after school activities are starting back soon . It’s what you make it.

St. Phillip Neri is great for families like mine who are interested in a smaller learning environment. They offer Stem/Everyday math from the University of Chicago. I have explored CPS, and I have been very overwhelmed with the amount of students/ class sizes. At St. Phillip Neri my kids have really great quality teachers that offer personalized instruction, the class sizes are small, and that's why we love it. The teachers are very accessible, and communicate often with parents. They have after school tutoring and art, I would like more activities like they had in the past. They offer really flexible drop/pick up off times. Its really a small family environment at SPN. Its one of the smaller Catholic Schools on the South Side, but that's what makes it special. I would like the parents to be more involved with the school, and be more accountable for their kids overall success. They also offer low tuition & plenty of scholarship opportunities.

Everything about this school is misleading. There are absolutely no extracurricular activities. There is absolutely no S.T.E.M. There is absolutely no academic support. If you just need a baby sitter this is the place. But if you want you child to Excell RUN!

Diane Asberry, the principal at St. Phillip Neri, is the most unsatisfactory educational leader I have come across. The school lacks a strong emphasis on education and struggles to attract competent teachers. Situated in the heart of the Black community, just a short distance from the upcoming Obama Center, the school's failure to employ qualified educators is a significant concern. This institution does a great disservice to the local community. I strongly advise against enrolling your child in this school, as not all Catholic schools offer the same quality of education.

My sister attended this school for 2 years. In her second year, they were unable to hire a teacher. The woman that we were told was a parent volunteering, ended up acting as a teacher all year although she had no formal education. The student didn’t learn math and when confronted about this she stated that math wasn’t her thing. She was extremely antagonistic and aggressive with the students creating a hostile and under performing classroom environment. Once I asked to speak with her and she started screaming from the principals office and refused an adult conversation. My family vetted this school on the basis of a thriving academic structure led by black professionals and we were met with the complete opposite. Our experience did not match with the legacy we thought SPN had. This experience has been a complete disappointment.

This school is horrible. There is no academic instruction for middle school. The principal will promise qualified teachers that never materialize. This school will not prepare your student for high school.

This school needs to be closed down. There is no math, no science, so novels assigned, no homework. Evey year they promise to hire qualified teachers and it never happens. They get a bum off the street to pass out worksheets. Your student will not hit any of the benchmarks needed to be successful in high school. The principal is totally incompetent and needs to be fired. Don't waste your money.

Small class sizes were my determining factor. The School has a very flexible before and aftercare hours. They pretty much have afterschool programs every day of the week. Mass/Religion is a plus. Small School family. Its a good place for kids to get the attention they need. The only thing I wish they had was sports teams.

SPN is a pretty good school. The 4th grade teacher Mrs. Ashmore is an excellent teacher. She's really supportive of the kids. She's also teaching above grade level math/reading. I love that the school is not over crowded. The teachers communicate on a regular basis. They have extended hours for morning/after care. they also have free after school programs all week.

Good school. My kids benefited from being in person due to the pandemic while public schools were at home. The school is very small, and its what I love about it. They offer math as well as reading enrichment programs. The school is also great at communicating with parents. We will return in the fall. The Archdiocese offered free music, yoga, and other classes this year via zoom, we took advantage of them.

SPN is a great school. The teachers are very experienced. My son has learned very well here. They offer title one a tutoring program for kids who may need extra help. They also offer I-ready which enhances the students reading/math skills. It is a small school, but that is what I like because the class sizes are smaller, and that allows the kids to receive more personal attention. The tuition is reasonable & the school receives donations for scholarships all the time.

There's not much information about this school online, But I was referred by another parent. I was initially unsure, but I really like this school. Its not overwhelming like public schools. I like that its faith based, and the classes are really small which allows students to receive personal attention from the teachers. The hours are good for parents who need early morning care, My child is doing very well at SPN.

If you are looking for a school that is small as well as faith based, this is the school for you. My daughter sings in Mass every week & she loves it, it helps her confidence. The teachers are great, and they are great communicators. The school offers I-ready which is a math & reading enhancement program that the kids are required to do so many hours per week. The school is like a small family & we love it there. The tuition is very reasonable, and there are scholarships that families can apply for as well.

St. Phillip Neri is like a small family. The classes are not overly crowded like public schools. The teachers are great & communicate with parents on a regular basis . They offer math & reading online programs. This is definitely a school for families that prefer a small faith based school.

This school is a small school, But its great because the kids are able to receive personalized attention as the classes are small. My kids really benefit from the smaller classes. They have a great program for Math & Reading called I-Ready which helped my kids advance with math & reading. I especially love the 1st & second grade teachers as they are the favorite. The teachers are very assessible as well, and they communicate through the class Dojo often.

Parents I encourage you to not send your child to this institution. The staff members are sadly very incompetent. The teachers come to work often disheveled, have extremely poor classroom management, and communication skills. There have been multiple allegations of children being harmed by other children, teachers using profanity towards the children, and inappropriate situations happening under the care of staff members. There is no system of accountability for the teachers and staff members. It is disappointing that even under new leadership, this institution is failing our children big time. As parents, investing in your child's education is extremely important and this is not the school to make such a financial investment. The trust and high level of expectation I once had for this school is now gone due to the lack of professionalism. Continue to explore your educational options. If I had the option to provide a half star, I would have.
