O'Keeffe is a special, and dedicated team of teachers, staff and leaders; that always focus on what is best for students. Instruction is at the heart of the work done at O'Keeffe, but social emotional health is also important in our school. From extra curricular activities like ballet, gardening, basketball, dance club, and homework help, students are supported in so many ways. Assemblies, special performances as well as parent engagement nights are a few ways that the parents and community are encouraged to be involved in the school. Teachers continually try new methods and approach students based on their needs.

Worse since Bankhead it will continue getting worse because the principal doesn’t even communicate with parents nor does her staff knows how to talk to the child and parents

My child transferred into this school the middle of 6th grade and the bullying began! The principal, both AP's, and the rest of the staff are ill equipped to handle bullying. There was no intervention for the bullies, which happen to be MANY! The school instead decides to "counsel" the bullied children. In my book, as well as MANY other parents I have teached out to, this is backwards. The bullies are treated like royalty when the bullied children are treated as if theu have done something wrong. The staff is more interested in their popularity with the children than these childrens well being. This school need another revamp quickly before someone gets hurt.

The after school programs have really increased my children's knowledge and they are excited about going to school. My daughter is valedictorian of her 2015 graduating class and my son is a straight A student. Whice is not only a reflection of me as a parent but also the teachers and curriculum at Okeeffe

I have two children that attend O'Keeffe and I think it's an excellent school since the over turn the staff are very helpful and respectful. The teachers are very nice both of my children like to go to school and they come home happy I think it's a safe environment. And the principle is doing a great job.

O'Keeffe is definitely a school that is not only excellent, but strives towards greater excellence. All staff members (from the custodial staff to administration) are professional, welcoming, caring and take great pride in the school. But above all, each places student success above all. The staff work as a team tirelessly to provide quality education so all of the students master the subject material and enjoy school, while feeling loved and safe. O'Keeffe is definitely a school of EXCELLENCE preparing students well for college, career and beyond.

Hello I am a current Okeeffe 8th student I have been at this school for a year and a half years now and this school has great opportunites for the students that attened this school. The teachers at this school really scare about you they willreward you when doing thing that you are supposed to or getting straight a's or even simply just coming to school everyday, we get hands on learning, and most of all we learn.

I am a student at Okeeffe School Of Excellence. I am in 6th grade. And I would like to say that when I came to this amazing school I thought it was like any other school. But i was wrong. The teachers here teach their in a special way. In a way where the student understand. Okeeffe inspires it's student to do the best they can. And all of Okeeffe's students are well behaved. When I saw all of Okeeffe's students I said ''wow'' to myself. And with all the after-school programs the students get all the help they need and much more.I think Okeeffe is one of the best schools in Chicago. 12-16-14 From:Shanelle Moffett

I love O'keeffe! I have four children that attend this school, and they love it as well. The teachers really do care about each and every student. I love how the staff keep you in the loop about your child. I enjoy the programs that they put together, as well as their after school programs! The principal Dr. Bankhead is AMAZING!!!!!

Parents, Go and talk to the principal. If you don't, he will think you don't care. Half the parents probably don't care--make sure you are in the other half. Understand that parents must be active in schooling their children when the public schools fail. Organize some home-study groups for the kids. Don't settle for a bad school--be proactive for a better future for your children. Organize a group of parents from your child's class to meet with the principal. (An O'Keeffe graduate--1954)

This school is TERRIBLE! My daughter is currently a 7th grader there. They don't even hae books for the students to take home. My daughter has come home numerous times with homework, but no textbook to do the work. She has to take the constitution test this year, during the christmas break the teacher gave her a packet with questions to answer to help her study. Once again their were no books for her to bring home. Luckly we have a computer with internet access, but what about the students who don't have that luxury. Her teacher says I should say I should say somethig to the principle about that but, if he is supposed to be there putting education first, why should I as a parent have to tell him what he already knows? I'm getting her a transfer.

This School is absolutely Horrible. I am an Alumni from this school and when i graduated, i had no clue of how to succeed in high school. I was in the 7/8th grade "gifted" program(similar to honors or an"advanced placement" class) and after graduating and going to high school, i couldnt use anything I learned from this school to help me manage time or be an ACTIVE student. This school is the epiphany of failure and only the students who have hope will find success.... Parents, fight to give your child(ren) that hope and inspire the school to get better staff
