Poor school with bullying problems. Students sit on laptops doing computer programs alone for hours a day. Internet program IXL teaches the students, not the teachers. New admin is white in a Hispanic school. It's a mess.

The teachers in this school go above and beyond to make sure that students have access to technology, books, and field trips. Teachers write grants and reach out to organizations to supplement the budget cuts in CPS. The staff is friendly and dedicated to student achievement.

Terrible administration. Administrators have large egos, the school is boring and not fun for kids.

The school is a mess. I attended pickard since kindergarten and loved it. Now my 4 year old is there and administration is horrible. You're concerns are not cared about . My sons teacher changed 3 times due to the horrible system they have.

The students of this school terrorize the neighborhood. During the winter months they stand across the street and throw snowballs at pedestrians and cars. They have complete disregard to authority. I've seen them fight in the sorrounding streets and when adults try to intervene these kids use all kids of profanity against them. The school doesn't care when you call and complain. They give you the round around and wash their hands because it's all happening after school.

My school is a part of my family, the Parents, Administration, and Teachers work hard to raise the standards of academic excellence for our Pickard students. I am proud to be a Pickard School community volunteer.

I am new to Pickard within the past 2 years and I never plan on leaving!! Everything about Pickard is so much better than the other 2 schools I've taught at. The students are respectful and want to learn. They make it enjoyable to teach them when you see them so excited to learn new things and try so hard. The parents are willing to be there for the child and Pickard. The administration and staff are wonderful!!

My school is AWESOME. I worked at another school for many years. When I came to Pickard I saw a difference right away. The students are respectful and they want to learn. The teachers are so dedicated and caring for each of their students. The administration is hands-on! They are very supportive. The parents are fully engaged in the education for their child. Pickard is the best school in Pilsen.

My school is on the move to being one of the top schools in the Chicago area. It's located in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood of Pilsen and provides excellence in education. Though we are located in an underserved neighborhood, nothing deters us from our mission to prepare ourl students to be competitive and successful members of the global community. We have moved from a Level 3 school to a Level 2 in a short period of time. Our goal remains to be a Level 1 school. We need additional resources to update our school such as books, computers, updated technology and even grass for our playground area. Pickard Elementary School serves almost 800 students from Pre-K-8.

As of 2012-2013 Pickard is off probation. It is among the 5 top schools out 26 at the Pilsen/Little Village Network.
