My son was graduated in 2024. He had a good time and good experience; he has ELL, and the teacher teach him to prove his language skills to be native speaker in the future. The teacher deserves a compliment. I'm here at my son's graduation day and it was one of the best days of my life to see my son growing up and really proud of how he can communicate with his friend in English like a native speaker. Teachers well-cared students!

This school is good for bright students and there are no bullies here. We had a stallion activity in every year, wow, what a good school.

This school was excellent. The teachers were taking care of students well, good staff, but the school size is pretty small, but the academics are good. There are no bullies in the school, even they have, just a little. I would recommend this school.

Good community school in East Lakeview. Diverse group of students with strong parent engagement. Teachers seem motivated and ready to take on the day. Lots of communication between teachers and parents in regards to classroom activities and what’s being studied on the classroom. PreK through 8 grade school.

Nettelhorst is a great learning environment with caring, committed teachers. There is a strong support structure from active parents and good leadership in the school. The diversity of students is broad and the school has great community support.

This school is dirty, disorganized, and lacks leadership and diversity of thought.

Our experience at Nettelhorst - with two kids so far halfway through - has been terrific. We look forward to many more years here.

My child's experience in her own words would be "never again I would go back." We transferred about a year ago to a suburban school and the teachers actually seem to care about the students which is how it's supposed to be!! It's a shame because I saw her start her first day of preschool here so watching this school become worse and worse hurts me.

Nettelhorst has an amazing community and network of families. The diversity is great, and all activities in the school are unique, fun and a learning experience.

Great leadership at Nettelhorst...we couldn’t have asked for a better place to send our children!

We love Nettelhorst! We have a 1st grader and have been impressed with the teachers who go the extra mile in the classroom as well as the during-school 'specials' programs & extracurricular opportunities.

This school has taken a drastic down turn with the new principal. Teachers are still doing their best, which is very good. But the lack of leadership is starting to show.

We have been part of the Nettelhorst Community for over 1 academic year, and so far, the school has exceeded our expectations. Our son started here in kindergarten, and before he started we had some concerns , due to his special needs. These concerns were put to rest within the first couple weeks of school. His kindergarten teacher and the rest of the Nettelhorst staff were very accommodating, nurturing yet firm. Under their gentle guidance, my son has thrived, and he sincerely enjoys going to school. He is now a first grader and is doing very well. He has an amazing teacher and has the proper supports in place. As a parent, I feel very grateful to be a part of this vibrant community that has a lot of heart and soul.

The Nettelhorst School is a gem filled with extraordinary teachers who really care.I had moved my family to Chicago from out of State a year ago and had the stress that usually comes with a move in finding a school for your children. I usually have my kids in private school, but that all changed after I met with the Principal here at Nettlelhorst. She instantly won me over after the tour and so I decided to give this school a go. I’m glad I did. What once looked to be a dreary old building was filled with a lot of love with children’s art work and stories on the walls, whimsical murals done by the local community, and a rehearsal going on of A Night at the Museum with the school’s drama teacher. I even saw attentive and engaged kids that looked very happy to be in school. This got my kids very excited to start. My children had two teachers named Ms. Gunderson and Ms. McCoy. It is very special to come across teachers who go way beyond their call of service and these two Wonder Women never fell short. I had two very nervous children (one who was on her 7th school) and I felt these two teachers really took my kids under their wing. They also made learning fun. One keeping 1st graders engaged by singing songs like in the Madeline books to and from the local library or theater to see a play or maybe partake in a little yoga led by one of the classmates before lunch. The other making game shows out of her history lessons all the while getting 4th graders excited about answering questions and always being available if my daughter or any student needed extra help in anything they were working on while never making it out to be a chore, even after knowing she had to be tired with an hour drive home after she was done. Pretty amazing if you ask me.My kids are really excited to return their second year and I don't blame them one bit!

Progressive, good parent and community input. Teachers really care. We currently have a 4th and 1st grader. They are very involved and love the school.
