Cassel is great school! My daughter just graduated 8th grade 2022. We had wonderful experience with Cassel. As being mom , my daughter is kid from foreign country and doesn’t speak English. The teachers and kids were so welcome when my daughter enrolled to Cassel 2019. She made a lot of good friends and did great!

Despite the chaos around the pandemic, CTU/CPS battle and remote learning. Cassell is a shining star if neighborhood schools! All staff and teachers go out of their way to make the learning experience the best for all students!

It is getting much better we have a new principle and vp. Change takes time the school safety is increase the up keep has increased. There is a new positive discipline motivation charting going on. Two of my kids have bad classes like a whole bunch of kids that act out. This year the classes both have a peace. I'm happy with it.

Both of my daughters went here years back and had experience so much racism when had affected their childhood. I wouldn’t recommend this school for people who are of ethnic descent.

Lack of diversity. Lack of concern and awareness from the staff regarding social issues regrading the children. Bullying is swept under the rug, parents are not informed by the staff but rather your child and other parents. (Hopefully your child isn't afraid to tell you what's happening). Taking my child out ASAP!

Cassell is a great school. I took my kids out of the neighborhood private school a few years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. My kids were actually behind and spent their first year trying to catch up with the rest of their class, making me wonder why I paid all that money for a private school. The teachers here are great and you can tell they have the children's best interest in mind. Unfortunately Cassell is subject to budget cuts just like all CPS schools and this forced them to cut the drama teacher, although they still put on 2 school-wide plays per year. The academics are challenging but all of my kids get straight A's with hard work. It is diverse as well, which is something that I absolutely cannot say for private school. Overcrowding is an issue, but that seems to be a CPS issue and I cannot fault Cassell for that. The issue with the overcrowding is not the inability of the teachers to be effective (because they manage just fine), but with the physical space of the school and classrooms. I will be sending my kids to a private high school and I feel confident that Cassell is preparing them for a successful academic future.

Ok but not great. Kids do not get the much needed attention due to overcrowding. There's also a lack of sports activities which could help engage a better family atmosphere. Overall, I think its overrated. Had to remove my children to private school for better education and attention. Extracurricular activities are much better too.

I have 2 children attending this school and they are both very happy. I do NOT have one negative thing to say about Cassell. The Principal and the staff are always going way and beyond.

I had my son in a catholic school since kindergarten except 7th and 8th grade ,, if I could back I would save my money!! Cassell is wonderful school !! Plus if your kids need help all the teachers are very willing to help!! The principle and the office staff are extremely friendly and are willing to help as much as they can. My son loves cassell. Education is excellent! The only thing I would say is get more sports teams,,, This would keep the kids busy.

While the school is okay, some parents have taken over and they run the school. its very "political" often feels like a lifetime movie. Overall its a good school and the teachers seem to really care a few bad apples by way of teachers and parents are making it a bad school along with overcrowding.

My children go to this school and it is less than satisfactory. My daughter is gifted and they tell me they can not challenge her and to send her to the gifted school. So I call the gifted school and the application process is October to December. Chicago Public School System is horrible and Cassell may be a decent school for a CPS school but it really is a terrible school in my opinion. 35 kids per class.

Cassell is great school. However, the overcrowding issue that continues yearly is not being addressed properly by the prinicpal or CPS. It is a shame that there are 43 children in the theird grade classroom in the first of their ISAT testing years. How can 1 teacher effectively meet the demands of all the children to ensure they are ready to take this very difficult and nerve racking test?????

Cassell was once an excellent school, but now it is just a good school. It has become extremely overcrowded in the past couple of years. Third grade has 42 students in the classroom and it is not the only grade with over 40 children in a classroom. The teachers at the school are very dedicated and competent. It is distracting for the students, however, to be in the classroom with so many other students.

My niece loves the school because of the great teachers and the attention they give to the students. I love that it's a magnet school and the students are more academically challenged.

The 8th Grade Students love Mrs. Cohan & Ms. Scanlan and all they have done to make their 8th grade year wonderful!!!! They also have had a great learning experience from Mrs. Cloney, Mrs. Rodriguez, Mrs. Pienta and all of their enrichment teachers! I highly recommend Cassell School!
