I am (WAS) a parent of two children at Burnside a 5th grader and a first grader. They have attended Burnside for the past two years and I am happy to say, by the grace of God they will no longer be attendin Burnside anymore. The biggest problem at Burnside is bullying and the administration lack of concern for the problem. My first grader was beaten on the school bus by a 6th grader, they tried sweeping it under the rug by showing me only part of the video from the bus. How can I trust these people with my precious jewels..STOP !!! TURN AROUND !! RUUUN !!!!

I am a parent of 2 students. Burnside had a rough year in 2013. They had an interim principal who was very ineffective. However, just when I was about to transfer my children out, a miracle showed up. They have a new principal who in just 1 year has update the auditorium, added a beautiful historic mosaic mural on the 1st floor, added 2 new Mac labs, and both of my children's reading and math scores have made significant gains this year. My daughter who is in the gifted program is reading 3.5 grade levels above grade level (she started out only 1 grade level ahead). My son who has special needs started out 1 grade level below and is now 1/2 a year ahead grade level. I am so grateful I remained patient, volunteered, and continued to support Burnside. I am confident that this school is moving back on an upward trend.

My child's attends Burnside. I am attempting to transfer my child for her 7th and 8th grade. Since Dr. Biegler left the school has gone down. There has been 2 principles (interim) and neither one was effective. The score have gone down and some of the teachers are not certified in the areas they are teaching. I want my child out as soon a possible.

Burnside is a good school . Most of the graduating class will attend the better high schools in the city. The school provides a safe and secure environment inside as well as outside the school. The school need more parents to get involved.

my daughter presently attends preschool at Burnside and I am very satisfied with the teachers and staff, they are kind and friendly. My child comes home happy to talk about the evaporation process and being a author of a book.

I feel the school is giving the children the challenge and education needed in order for them to become the children of our future. I also think that it's time for the parents to speak out form the teachers that care for and educate our children.
