I was very disappointed on this day....after being off for the summer the school is still not finished with the remodeling and the school ending on June 15th so the remodeling could start for my daughter's classroom. No A/C for the classroom we have to bring fans and bottled water for the kids. I really don't think that's appropriate.

I think Beethoven is an excellent school. They are striving to educate urban children in spite of social and economic odds. The are a Track E school and they even opened school during the intercession breaks so the kids would not have a large break in their instruction. Way to go Beethoven!

Beethoven has been my teaching home for just a few short years. The environment is a nurturing one where we are there in support of our students. Like any school, Beethoven has its share of issues. Some of which, due to state mandates, our hands are tied. Despite the obstacles, the students are our best interest and is the driving force behind every decision that is made. Parent response is good but we'd like to help make it great. Plans are being made to assure better teacher/parent relationships where each child's best interest is piriority.

Yes, Beethoven needs improvement. I would not go as far as to say the school is 'horrible'! In fact, as of March 2010 the school is undergoing remodeling and will emerge with the Clark school down the street. The students from Clark will relocate to Beethoven due to the Clark school closing. I must say the children at the school can get out of hand at times. With that being said Beethoven has an excellent performing arts after school program [The World Performance Team Institute] which consist of a high caliber drill team. The program also acts as a gang-prevention program and male-mentorship. I think this program can help shed some light on Beethoven and the South Side of Chicago with proper funding. Beethoven is a good school striving to be great!
