We have been St Ambrose parishioners since 2018, and our oldest just finished her PreK4 year at the school. It was truly amazing to see her thrive and grow. The teachers nurture the individual potential of each child, and instill a love of learning by making things fun and memorable. We received a weekly email from the teacher about what they were doing in class, and what to expect the following week. Beyond the academics, I am thankful for the social and spiritual growth that my child has shown after just one year in the Beehive. The teachers model respect and celebrate diversity. Families are welcome to share their own traditions and holidays, such as Hanukkah and Lunar New Year. Many faculty members are parents of current students and/or alumni, so they care deeply about the school and it shows. The small community feel of the school builds a priceless sense of safety and trust. My 4-year-old knew middle schoolers by name, and the “Big Kids” were always such kind role models to the little ones. The PreK class decorated graduation caps for the 8th graders who had gone through SAS for all of elementary school. Many parents are neighbors, so I always knew someone would have my back if I needed last-minute help with drop-off or pick up, or a reminder to send something for show-and-tell!The administration team is incredibly hardworking, resourceful, and receptive to parent feedback. For example, I was part of a group of moms that worked with the administration to introduce a PK3 program for 2022-2023. They have gone above and beyond to face the challenges of teaching during Covid. Needless to say, our family feels very fortunate to have St. Ambrose as our church and school.

My two sons attended St. Ambrose School (SAS) last year, 2021-2022 and really enjoyed their first school year (Kindergarten and PreK 4). The classroom teachers are so dedicated to the students, meet them where they are, and challenge them to do their best. The “specials” teachers are fun and creative at engaging students and diving deep into their respective areas of interest (physical education, art and music, library, and Spanish). The office staff is helpful and responds quickly and effectively to any inquiries I have asked. Mrs. Baker, the principal, is always positive and friendly and my kids love her. Pick up and drop off are easy with plenty of parking in the lot for those who want to help their younger children out of the car as well as one way traffic on Jason Street for pulling up and dropping off older children who do not need help. My daughter is enrolled in the inaugural PreK 3 program that is starting this Fall 2022. We are really looking forward to another school year at SAS where our children can continue to grow and develop surrounded by the wonderful school family that we have gotten to know and love.

I would give Saint Ambrose a higher rating than AVERAGE; however, until pre-kindergarten to 5th grade students are in a SEPARATE building from the middle school young students (6th grade to 8th grade students), I MUST rate the experience really INADEQUATE. Saint Ambrose desperately needs a NEW SCHOOL BUILDING. Young students in MIDDLE SCHOOL need their own building to deal with the complexities of growing up to become a TEENAGER heading off to HIGH SCHOOL. These young students should not have to deal with the little students.
