We have been extremely happy at Johnson. The principal is AMAZING at building community and school spirit and the students adore him. His kindness and compassion make this school a special place. I have found the teachers to be excellent and overall, school staff has also been wonderful. I’m honestly shocked how low this school scores. My kids love it and are thriving here. It’s a very diverse population but the principal and staff have made that a positive, and I’m am so happy my children are in such a great integrated community. My only real criticism would be the actual building and grounds which are in need of some repairs but that has more to do with politics in CH. Overall, we are very happy to be Johnson Owls!

My daughter was never poorly attended to. The teachers she had were very sweet and patient in the teaching process.

Johnson is an amazing school! The principal is wonderful and truly cares about the community. The teaching staff have all done a fantastic job with my children, who consistently meet or exceed state standards and are well-prepared for middle school. We value the diversity of the community, and the positive culture that Mr. Peltzman has worked hard to instill.

The overall experience was great. We had 2 children go through Johnson from K through 5th grade. Our kids had a wonderful elementary school experience. They are both excellent students and very well socially adjusted. They made some great friends while at Johnson and the skills they learned, they have carried with them into middle school. We feel that the curriculum prepared them well for middle school. We loved the fact that they had a nice and diverse group of friends, that they learned about different cultures and backgrounds. This is something that will continue to add value for them as they grow into adulthood and enter the real world post high school and college. Overall very pleased with our experience at Johnson.

Both of our children have gone to Johnson (one is still there). The current principal is an absolute gem and is continually working to make our school even better. I can't say enough about the amazing faculty and staff!! Our children have blossomed there!

I think the new principal is a huge improvement from the previous principal. It's obvious he really cares about the student and teachers.

I am also very impressed with this school. My son has been going to James Johnson school since Kindergarten. He is now a third grader and we have had nothing but good experiences. The teacher have been down to earth and very helpful with my son's development.

It makes me sad to leave this review. I think there are a great group of parents and teachers... and staff. But there are some teachers who are just going thru the motions. I think it mainly comes down to the principal. There is a huge disconnect between the teachers and principal, and its very clear the teachers are not happy with the way the school is being ran. And I think a lot of parents would agree. the pincipal isn't friendly to the children, they barely know her. She loves stuffing issues under the rug or passing the blame. Ive seen 2 people fired over her mistakes, or an issue she should've dealt with and blew it off. And yes these are issues that effect the children. I think this school could be an awesome school... but I am so happy to not send my kids there anymore.
