I loved this school when I was young made friends had excellent teachers. Although the school is great the school has a bully problem that needs to be solved but overall it’s great!

My children have thrived at Bret Harte. They are surrounded by good teachers, supportive administration, attentive school staff and a wonderful community.

My son and daughter have both attended Bret Harte and have received excellent educations. The academics are top notch and they also teach the children to embody good values about citizenship and being kind and empathetic to one another. There is a strong community presence here and the educators and families are all partners in the students' success. Bret Harte is an excellent school and I highly recommend! There is also a wonderful playground right across the street where everyone gathers and it creates a very positive, comfortable and fun atmosphere.

First let me say that some of the teachers and parents are wonderful. Mrs. Gillooly is a fan favorite and my child absolutely adores her. Unfortunately there is a "community" here that I had no idea existed when relocating to this neighborhood. My child has been alienated terribly. This "community" ensures that everyone who belongs to it are included in everything. Sadly since we are not part of this group my child is left out and is made aware in class, the schoolyard, at lunch during social activities. It's painful to see and hear your child cry because being left out. This "community" while building up themselves has alienated others. There is so much more to say but I'm growing tired of trying, and fighting this battle seems futile. I'm thinking of blogging about it, as I'm sure we are not the only ones dealing with this.

This is an excellent public school. I have three kids attending Bret Harte and they love going to school. The teachers are excellent. I have not heard any bad review of any teacher from parents. Class sizes are small, homework is light. I'm very happy with the school.
