Teachers determine how good your year is because every teacher will give you a completely different experience. The building is stuffy with no ventilation, very cramped, dirty, and outdated. The homework load is very unpredictable and messes with your schedule. One night you could have no homework and another you could have 8 hours. The school doesn't set their priorities straight, and funding is skewed towards the football team which is terrible. The arts program is among the best in the state, however it gets almost no funding. School events are run almost entirely by the deans while the principle and administration does very little to help. School doesn't care to help students develop a strong character, and the special ed program is very isolating. Students are not taught what they need to know. The school doesn't care about conduct, and does very little to correct poor behavior and drug use. Academically the school is above average, but problems stemming from the poor administration causes the experience at CHS to be much worse then it needs to be.

Excellent education for my 3 children ; kids in town are nice and respectful; music, theatre and arts and sports are fantastic.

We have 2 kids there a Junior and a Freshman. Both came from a small private school and they are doing very well. We were concerned about them moving to a large school but they adjusted well because the teachers are very caring and it is a very friendly environment. The school pushes them academically and there are plenty of extra curricular activities available. The school also has great sports program as well.

My son is a sophomore and has had an excellent experience with CHS. The variety in the coursework is helping to mold him into a well-rounded life-long learner. The teachers here TRULY care! Even when there are issues, their focus is always to help him move to the next level in the correct way. We could be a better high school if more parents became involved. You see the same few parents at booster events and it's tough to get consistent volunteers.

This school is GREAT. The kids are ready when they exit, for sure. They get practical and technical skills that help them succeed in college. BUT - the principal should solicit MORE PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT. There's a group of us that work hard to help our teachers and staff be successful with our kids. We need other parents to chip in as well.

I loved Chelmsford High School. I was involved in school extra curricular that made me become involved in the school. All of my teachers were amazing, if I asked them for help they would help me, and they would even stay after class to help out. CHS is a public high school, but the faculty give you personalized attention that make you (the student) feel comfortable talking with them if need be... at least it felt that way to me.
