I want to express my gratitude to the entire staff of this school. We are emigrants. Each teacher showed care and attention to my son who does not know the language. Friendly atmosphere and order, security at the entrance to the school, control. Special regards to Mrs. Lorenzo, Mrs. Campell, Mr. Pocheco, the teachers and the lovely translator, the nurse and reception staff and others. You are all very nice people, we will not forget your kindness. Good luck and prosperity to the school.

Horrible school!! Do not send your children here. Front desk is the worst. They are unprofessional and incompetent. Communication between front desk staff and teachers seem to be non-existent. The school is also a disorganized mess. The staff is also petty and vindictive. The school is rated poorly for a reason. I wish I knew before I moved into this area. So glad my lease is up in a few months so I can move to a better area with better schools!

Newell elementary has potential. The teacher and ta's are amazing and they all work very hard despite the lack of support they receive, the working conditions, the erratic and overall poor management from the administration. The principal and the administration here need to be investigated for the unethical culture and the manner in which they treat staff and students. Families, employees and children should not be subject to the bullying, retaliation and mismanagement that occurs at this school.

This school is terrible. If you can’t get your child in a charter school you should move. Principal lies about anything bad going on and doesn’t listen to teachers. Lots of good teachers left the school because of the crazy principal. Trying to move and get my child out of here.

I have to say, as someone who both attended and volunteered at this school, I am impressed with the growth this school has seen. I really enjoyed my time here, though I can safely admit I hated one of my fourth grade teachers who had no business working with students who were low-SES and minority as she had zero sympathy for them. Luckily, she is not employed there anymore. When I volunteered here, I was impressed by the majority of the staff and the fact that it really seemed to cater towards the socioeconomic and cultural needs of the students, though there were some teachers--for some reason, I seem to not click well with fourth grade teachers--who should show more compassion, I do have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and culture at this school. Overall, my experience with the school has been satisfactory, though I know it still had miles to go before it is perfect.

What in the world?! Are these people writing school reviews on the same school that I went to? Newell is an amazing school and I miss it so much! When I first moved here from out of state, all of the kids were nice to me and I met a lot of new friends. Teachers want to teach. Of course not all of Newell's teachers are excellent, but then again, what schools have all excellent teachers? As I progressed at Newell, I was placed in TD or Talent Development, an academic program that the school offers. There's always lots of on-stage plays for students to enjoy. Lots of rewards for academic progress. One program at the school, AR (accelerated reading), was very fun for me because we had a racetrack around the school as we gained more and more points for reading books and answering questions. You got invited to a AR party in the gym for being far on the racetrack. You are also very involved with administration, too. Whenever I had a concern, the principal would ask me personally about it and help me with the situation. The principal had a relationship with all of the students, which helped us throughout grade school. Field trips were always the best, too. Newell is just full of memories!
