I love the school! Everyone I’ve encountered has been so loving and helpful to my child. It feels like a warm family environment, not like a system school where everything is rigid and being treated like a number. Recently there was an incident where my child slipped and fell and the front desk staff was able to provide an ice pack and TLC. Was contacted immediately by the teacher and they even sent home an incident report with all the details. I wasn’t expecting any kind of paperwork to come with some thing as simple as a fall, that wasn’t major, but I appreciate their attention to detail regarding my child.

Jackson Day is small close knit school that has a fabulous teaching staff and provides excellent opportunities to students that are not found in any comparable schools! As a parent, I have been impressed with the teachers and the staff. It has been a great place for my students to learn and grow!

Excellent school. The teachers go above and beyond for their students. They are passionate, patient, and truly care about their students' academic and personal growth. Highly recommend Jackson Day for anyone seeking a well rounded school that is focused on academics and a nurturing environment for their child!

This is probably one of the worst charter school in Charlotte. Very prejudice school. A lot of racism and bullying goes on here. The administration team is horrible. They are very disorganized and hide a lot of things. They made a huge mistake expanding. Everything that goes on in this school is just like a public cms school. Your kids are better off academically elsewhere. So glad we got to get out of here and happy to see staff also leaving and joining us in our new home!!! This school needs to be looked into with everything they hide and don't follow.

This is our first year and my kids are thriving. We love the teachers, staff, and the sense of community. My children have been able to participate in a wide range of after school clubs and activities. I would absolutely recommend this school.

We started the year after this school became a charter and we’re very excited. The school felt like a family. We loved the staff. They did an amazing job navigating through Covid the first two years of Covid. Now the school seems to be falling apart left and right. There is no telling how many teachers we have lost this year. There is no resource officer. There is no school nurse. They have built a playground right beside a busy street which is an accident waiting to happen. They are very short staffed to the point that they have high school students substitute teaching. It’s nothing more than a glorified daycare in kindergarten and first grade when the teachers are out. One parent informed me that there was a kindergartner left on the playground for who knows how long unsupervised. They have a lot of first time teachers that do not care whether they’re teaching or not. The kids act as though lunchtime is a romper room. I’ve watched bullying go on in high school and middle school level during lunchtime and the teachers do absolutely nothing about it. Of course, these kids are much bigger than the teachers and they have no resource officer, so there’s that. The band teacher cancels almost every single practice last minute because he has “ other obligations/commitments”. Then he claims the children have nothing to learn. Note some of the kids are first year band students. Their “new” activity buses are always breaking down. After the way, they have treated some of their staff I do not understand how others are so loyal. Please tell me how a principal of a school goes down to part time. With the way, things are constantly declining at the school. I have considered putting my children back in public school if we can’t get in to another school. I would only recommend the school as a steppingstone to get into another charter quicker. The teachers apparently allow your children to play in class and when they are struggling in a subject, they want to offer you tutoring at $50 an hour or tell you that you need to put your child on Ritalin because they think that they have ADHD. What really needs to be done is taking control of your classroom and teaching your students. Their afterschool program is just a short staffed. I have walked into the classroom to pick up my daughter and there was no teacher in the classroom because the teacher is having to take care of two classrooms at one time. Anyone could have walked out with any random child.

We started attending MID the first year it converted from a private school to a charter school. We are finishing up our third year, and this school is impressive. They place a focus on character education and student behaviors. They get to know their students and genuinely care for them. The teachers are lovely, and the administration is attentive to their students, staff, and families. My children have flourished, and we are thrilled that we took a chance at this school. We recommended this school to all of our friends. Our high school student is taking college-level courses and flourishing. If you are lucky enough to get in the lottery at MID, I highly recommend exploring this option.
