I have a daughter in first grade at Bruns. She has tested at or above grade level both years she has attended, even through the pandemic and virtual learning. Homework has not been something we have dealt with so far, but this has been intentional by the teachers. Homework is not necessary for success in younger grades, so I appreciate no homework (beyond an encouraged reading log). The teachers and staff at Bruns are the heart of the school. They are awesome!

Bruns Avenue Elementary has been an enriching experience for both of my children over the last 3 years. Their teachers are dedicated while focused on meeting individual needs and the environment is calm but upbeat. The principal change 3 years ago, his dedicated staff and the recent uptick in community involvement are making great strides at this gem of a neighborhood elementary school and I can't wait for it finally show up in the numbers. *I think the past bullying comment might reference when 6 - 8 grades were at the school but it is now back to a traditional preK -- 5th elementary school.

This school has a lot of bully's and teachers don't do much to help out the students said to say I'm unenrolling my children out before they get hurt. Do not send your child to this school

I don't even want to give it a star but, hello parents I too, am a parent. I am unenrolling my son tomorrow but I am investigating my sons situation further now and will be taking legal action.

I HATE THIS SCHOOL. ITS HORRIBLE! People were selling Advil IN FRONT OF TEACHERS in class, its a horrible learning environment. Only a quarter of the 4th graders can read basic level books, and now that Student First is hut down this school is now ranked the worst school in CMS DON'T go here unless you want to get dumber...

I think this school needs a lot of work. I understand it is designed to help at risk kids learn. What are they learning? Christmas 2012 was cute but, inappropriate. The children already see and here that hip hop all the time and should not be taught in school. My grandchild listens to all types of music. This school was a lot better when my children attended. I think more should be done to get the hood out of the school. We are looking to take the children out of there and send them to a charter or private school. It doesn't matter if I've got to get an extra job to pay for it. We want the children to have a bright future. I do not see this school helping to make it possible. I've seen only two teachers that we will give a great thanks too, Ms Chalderon and Ms Mattachini. I hope I didn't mess up the names to bad. I have to say they are really trying to make a difference in the lives of these children.

This school needs some SERIOUS HELP- QUICKLY! The staff can't handle the behavior issues at the school, nor do they address them. They "track" them - but for what purpose? It has not been a complete month of the 2012-2013 school year and kids are complaining about the MANY disruptions from other students during class which include profanity by other students, outbursts, and just simple disrespect that prevent some of the teachers from instructing the students who want to learn. As usual, this behavior is tolerated and not addressed along with the bullying of other students. As a Project L.I.F.T school with the goal of increasing the quality of education provided to low income students, behavior and bullying issues must be addressed and not covered up before they can succeed with attempting to get some of these kids to a graduation stage.

I love the school my child teacher was hands on with everything my child would come and say dad to are mis Martin told us we could be anything in life if we don't give up I love her dad.I said to my self just when I wanted to give up on XMAS there are still some good teachers out there Thanks Mis Martin you make this school.

This school has allowed a person to speak to parents about child rearing that was investigated by child protective services. Again schools not screening the public and staff...exposing families to deceitful predators on Feb 2 , 2012

This school allowed a person to speak to parents about child rearing that was investigated by child protective services. Again school not screening the public and staff...exposing families to deceitful predators, On Feb 2, 2012 giving classes on parenting, people in the community letting questionable people spread deceit... screen all people allowed on school grounds. Backgrounds checks should be done all folks exposed to the unsuspecting public Shame on Sparks.
