We love Beverly Woods. It was a great school when I went there almost 30yrs ago and that still holds true now that my son is a student there. His teachers have been amazing along with all the other staff we engage with.

I was very excited about this school. But after a couple of weeks I’m ready to find my child a new school. Teacher methods is by intimidation, controlling and bullying. Apparently teachers have their favorites and by doing this they manipulate the rest of the class except of having a different better approach. My child now has low self esteem issues that I’m currently dealing with due to this type of manipulative behavior done by teachers. STAFF LOCKS SOCIAL MATURITY.

This is the most incredible school. My kids love going to school every day and we’ve had positive experiences with everything from the front desk to cafeteria staff to teachers and specials. They are committed to developing well-rounded children and meeting their individual needs. Their foundation is built on teaching respect, restraint and responsibility. It’s a paideia school, using this model to engage in conversation (speaking and listening) with their peers on all sorts of topics. Homework is very few and far between, instead kids are encouraged to spend time each night reading and being active. It has an incredibly active PTA that is constantly working to provide fun activities, new educational support like an outdoor classroom and appreciation events for teachers. The school has tons of programs to help kids engage and grow like partnering with EC students, Battle of the Books, Chess Club… and the on-campus guidance counselors are incredible. Many teachers stay for a long time because they love the school and it feels like family. I cannot say enough good things about it and feel confident our kids’ teachers will be lifelong friends.

Front desk staff are great. Everytime i go to school to drop or pick kids i find them very helping and they welcome parents with great attitude. I have very average rating for teacher. I selected this school based on rating and distant to work place. The 1 year experience to my 4th grader and K were very average that we decided to move out this school. I can say beyond any doubt that we wasted 1 year here. School is located at a great place. Great neighborhood, however curriculum wise i think its a very average. No focus on kids academic improvement. Once we moved to Barringer we realized how fortunate we were. Very average communication between teacher and parent. Zero Home work for both my kids.

Very friend staff members, amazingly well planned classes, great preps for EOG exams, effective homeworks, and most of all very professional teachers. Ms. Rausch is my son’s teacher and she is just more than amazing!! Looks like BWE is getting even better and better every year, and I’m sure it will be one of the best schools in NC!

10/10 whenever I here stories or think about the times were I was there, I am flooded by memories of not doing worksheets from classrooms. But learning with energy and all the things that I got to do. Along with an unexplainable feeling of love for everything there. Whenever you walk in there you can feel the love and innocence of the kids and environment. From the student-painted murals to the energy of life. You can really tell on how great this school is. If I could, I would go back, even as a kid I would rather just skip the weekend and see what the teachers had planned next. When I graduated from fifth grade I realized all the amazing things I had to let go. And as I met people from other schools, I realized how over and beyond our school strived to make each and every student a successful and nice person. Not to mention how many friends for life I made. (they are also an A+ Blue ribbon School, and more)

The teachers are amazing and the parent involvement is top notch! We have been so impressed with BW the last two years. Our daughter is in first grade and she loves it. We are excited for our son to attend as well in a few years. The school has definitely earned the Blue Ribbon Award and that is very obvious as you meet with teachers, school staff and other parents. The community really does put our children's learning and future first.

My kiddos have been at BWE for 8 years and our experience has been nothing short of amazing. It is a school that exemplifies academic excellence as well as builds kind and empathetic children. We bought our house specifically so our kids could go to Beverly Woods and it was the best decision we've ever made!

I have two children with special needs. My daughter being so complex and having a syndrome that is so rare, she might take the cake on being the most complex they have ever worked with. She has truly made these teachers and administration work hard! The one thing that is so amazing to me is they have never rolled there eyes at me or become frustrated at me. They have always just welcomed our family with open arms. This school is like one big family. They are supportive of the children and parents which can be very hard at times, but still maintain the understanding that every family presents differently. Just a couple of weeks ago my daughter was put on life support. I have never seen a school surround my family with such love and kindness in my life. They made sure anything and everything we needed, we had. Caroline Horne is an amazing principal. She mentors fellow principals in the district so, that has to say something about her character. While she is always busy her #1 priority is always maintaining a great environment for her students. This school would have NEVER become a blue ribbon school had it not been for her hard work and dedication. I tell everyone I feel like my kids are in a private school that I just don't have to pay for. Your child will get it all at this school. Just to name a few are diversity, inclusion, and most importantly a great education. I cannot say anything bad at all about this school. I hope this helps in making your decision. You won't find anywhere better than Beverly Woods Elementary.

Caroline Horne and the entire Beverly Woods staff coupled with family involvement make this school one of a kind. The commitment to inclusion is second to none... One of the best in this state.

My daughter flourished not only academically, but socially as well at Beverly Woods. She enjoyed learning from her teachers, and made many friends. It is a school my wife and I loved doing whatever we could to continue to make this a great school.

Very active principal and the new assistant principal is very good too. The teachers are dedicated and the school environment is supportive. The community is behind the success too. Our three kids have all thrived here. The integration of the children with special needs is best in class. A fully integrated and supportive community school. No wonder the school won the Blue Ribbon Award from the US Department of Education.

I came to this school with a lot of excitement for my son and the school year. We were new to the area and heard great things about it and read wonderful reviews. However the experience we had was nothing like we expected. This school needs more diversity and training on dealing with children of color. The principal is very compassionate and I must say the Asst. Principal is very patient however that is not always enough to get through to a child especially one that is not accustomed to the environment. Teachers are very combative and inconsistent in their dealings. Past experiences are held against them and there is no such thing as a new day in the classroom. Teachers have favorites. My son had 2 items stolen from him and nothing was done about it. It was such a terrible year. This is just to speak on very LITTLE of what we went through. Not to mention how rude the front office staff is or how the cafeteria manager took a breakfast tray out the trash and tried to force my child to eat it. Yea its safe to say we will NOT be returning to this school. If you have a child of color then you probably will not fit in here. They do not care to change the atmosphere either. Good luck.

My children attended Beverly Woods School last year. We moved to another similar size and ranked school in Charlotte. After being at a different school, I am already surprised at the difference in leadership. Our new school has more parent & teacher involvement and especially the principal is a hands on leader. We never saw the principal at Beverly Woods with a "hands on attitude." You only would report to her if you were in trouble. It is amazing when a principal has a positive attitude and it carries on through the staff and school. I am so happy about our new change and new CMS school. It is amazing the difference just a few miles makes, I never knew.

My son just began kindergarten and I have to say that he has excelled tremendously in reading in just 5 weeks. He is very much into learning and arts and crafts much more then ever before. His teacher is lovely and he seems to like her a lot. In general we are very satisfied and he is happy there.

BWE is an excellent elementary school. We considered all the options - public, parochial, independent - and couldn't believe it when the "best" option appeared to be our neighborhood, public elementary. We are three years in (oldest starting 2nd, youngest starting K) and could not be happier! The administrators and teachers we have encountered are top-notch, nurturing and well-trained. The PTA is super-involved and makes a major difference, both in terms of manpower and financial support, for the programs the school can offer. The school is big - with 5-6 classes per grade - but the students seem to mix and mingle and get to know one another (the size also reduces cliquishness). Can't say enough positive things about our experience so far.

We just moved here this year and came from private school. We have been very pleased with the welcoming environment and high expectations. The staff and administrators are among the best we have worked.
