My experience at JAMS was not at all the best. There was and STILL is a student at JA that has assaulted more than 12 children in the sixth grade. I'm very upset about how the school handled the situation. There was little to no help at all for the students that were affected by this behavior. I'm honestly very upset to say that I have gone here now that it's become such a messy place. This just enrages me that these children, most likely, have no idea how serious this situation is. They're telling these kids to always protect yourself but when it comes to this kind of thing their giving false hope and ultimately saying that they don't care for their students. The fact that the school and the school board did absolutely nothing saddens me. The only thing that those monsters did was suspend that perpetrator for ten days. TEN. This review is only to spread awareness about these unexpectable ways students are treated.

I was a former student at John Adams Middle School. My time there was enjoyable for the most part, However, there was a gym teacher there under the name of John Testa. Who cursed at students, called them profane names, and used derogatory terms when playing games in P.E. He was the reason I ended up leaving John Adams for the far superior Bible Center Christian school.

I spent 1 full year at this school and 2 half years and it was pretty great. There are a few teachers who don’t care about their job, but most of them are caring and kind. They all work very hard and are some of the best teachers i’ve had. There are issues with educating students on bullying and equality though.

It was amazing and the best 3 years of my life. This school cares so much about everyone and everything. It has changed me for the best and I’m so sad that I have to leave it so soon. The 3 years I was there, it has definitely prepared me for high school. The teachers are the best teachers in the whole entire universe and you won’t find any better staff that this school has. I’m so glad that I live in this area and got to spend 3 amazing years with all the amazing staff, and at this amazing school that I will always come back and visit the amazing staff that have helped me become who I am today. I’m so sad to have to leave JA and go to GW but I’m so happy i got to be there for 3 years.

The parents who judge this school or even students are unintelligent if you ask me. Obviously we have bullying and other things going around here, but all schools do. For the parents saying that their child(ren) is being treated unfairly, their kid(s) is not tell the truth. Our staff does try to do their best here and the students do too. We welcome people, but some see otherwise. We are also the top middle school and district in the entire state. I get that some other people from other schools judge us based on our location an wealthy parents, but that's not us. Don't be a hypocrite and Jude us if you haven't been here. For the people basking our school because of temperature and technology, we have everything fixed and are getting IPads for ALL the students and teachers. I recommend this public school for whom ever is moving near here and a heads up for the people bashing us based on false statements. Have a nice day!

I'm a student at John Adams and in my opinion it is the best school I could go to. The teachers have taught me so much even this year with how many days we had off. Sure the students have some drama but what school doesn't? The teachers treat us all fairly. They punish us if we need to be punished and reward us when we do good. Honestly I don't know where the whole rumor that the teachers treat students unfairly based on how rich or poor they are. I don't know about other people's experiences but from mine I can tell you that is not true. John Adams is a great school and if you are new to the area or are lookin for a new school for your kids, you should sent them to JA.

I'm an eight grader at John Adams. Our school is most definitely the best school in the county, but the entire Kanawha County school system is horrendous. Basically, we are the best of the worst. The temperature in the building is usually over 75 degrees, due to the outdated boiler system controlled by the county. The school itself is in disrepair, and filled with technology that hardly works, and isn't repaired for weeks or even months. Teachers are substandard and oblivious to bullying often perpetrated by the upper class students. Furthermore, all programs affiliated with the school are classist and political, and it's highly common to not make a sports team if you aren't friends with their kids or rich. The health program is also inadequate, and provides us, the students, with outdated books and methods. The bullying and discipline in the school is abysmal, and while the false smiles and lies tell you something will be done, I can guarantee that no action will be taken. When a student decides to take action when all else fails, they are usually suspended and the bully let off scot-free. I feel quite honestly dishonored by the school system, but I doubt anything will happen.

John Adams may have decent scores for West Virginia but its personally the worst school i have ever gone to in my entire life. If you arent a rich snob then most likely youll have trouble in school, and the teachers have almost no respect to the school or students; excluding a few. The kids cause drama and compete with other. all they care about is how expensive their jeans are and whos house has how many floors. Im not a top student and im not saying im a great person, but this school needs a major change from the building itself to teachers and especially the students attitudes.

This school is a joke.. Teachers and staff are mean and rude. Some teachers scream and yell "shut up" at the kids.. I guess this is acceptable. If you are new to the area I would advise you to home school or enroll somewhere else. The students are rude spoiled brats! They are mean and non accepting of new students. The school makes it seem they are all that... Let me be the one to tell you different. My child would learn more sitting in front of a computer with a virtual teacher... Major changes for my kids next year.

and they also treat the kids that are not rich differently. I live in a poor community and Mr. Mallory and Mrs. Jordan were the only ones that really treated me fairly.

If I could give this school a zero I would. A kid threatened to Cut my throat and my mom took me out for home schooling. The education depends on the student. They get treated differently depending on the teacher. If they donate to the school a lot and suck up to the teachers, they get treated better. If you are a parent about to enroll your kid into this school, try east bank middle. I've heard a lot of good things from that school.

Lets be real, darilngs,John Adams was the number one shool in westest grades in all subjecs in West Virginia for the 2012 year and we have 3 out of stars while stonewall jackson one of the worst school in west virginia with westtest sores getting worse every year has 5 out of 5 stars,really..... JA provides a warm, positive atmosphere with its open door policy, caring teachers and high standards. The children are educated, well rounded, diverse and manerly. JA is an outstanding school.

Most of the teachers at JAMS are great! I admit, bullying and drugs are a problem, but not a large one. The chorus program could be better. I wish the computer programs and required school books used would actually teach us something, but this problem applies to all Kanawha County Public middle schools. John Adams is over all a good school. I would recommend going there. GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I love this school no matter what you say- we have SOME behavioral problems with bullying and drug use but it is limited to an extremely small group of kids. Just about every kid here is left alone, including myself, and I find that the programs here are very beneficial. French, Spanish, Geometry, Algebra, Physical Science.... what a way to get ahead!

The administration and staff only do just enough to get through the day. The drug and bullying problems are a major issue which, I'm sure, makes teaching and learning extremely difficult. If we could afford to just homeschool our child - we would!

We moved from another state to this school. I regret moving. The teachers are substandard. When I walked in the door the first day, I was shocked at their dress. Professionals dress like professionals. I spoke to the English teacher who used poor grammar. We are looking at other options, but cannot find one...as the Catholic school is not any better. This school is shocking. There are students being bullied with no correction from teachers. If you are reviewing this school, I advise looking elsewhere. Computers are old and not updated with software. Just look at the school from the outside....that says a great deal. We are going to suffer this year out and then perhaps move back to our Ohio Schools...no matter what.

this school is horrible, im actually in the middle of transferring out to scms, anyway, i get picked on a lot because the way i dress, and the way my hair is, well i honestly dont care, but it just gets pretty darn, annoying, besides the fact of tht, the word creeker is used a lot, i am not wht they call a creeker, im not someone from the hills either, im from my mother, im just the same as anyone else, i breathe the same air as you, nothing you can do to stop tht, anyway, the principal isnt very nice, shes kind have rude if u ask a small question, answers with a smart allic attitude, and the teachers are ok, im happy to finish off my year at scms, then my last yr of middle school at sc, then go onto schs not go bck to be tortured twice as much at gw.
