  LTSA has been positive for two of our children. LTSA is a positive, encouraging, accommodating school, where students with different temperaments and aspirations can thrive. Students are accepted for who they are, encouraged to dream big, and supported. LTSA provides customized curricula and flexibility that allow students to reach their personal goals. The staff are caring, warm, responsive, and supportive. ACC is a few minutes away for students who want or need an additional academic challenge. We’ve had two high school seniors (1 during and 1 after the pandemic) at LTSA who were accepted into multiple engineering programs with full-tuition scholarships. The leadership roles, hands-on STEM projects, and engineering internships our children were able to do at LTSA enhanced their college and scholarship applications. One of our children was told in internship interviews that their experiences at LTSA made them stand out as a candidate at top employers. Our other child's internship and capstone project were very important to helping them get scholarships and paid summer internships before even entering college.LTSA’s flexible and supportive environment can help any child pursue their specific interests, needs, or goals. We have been a part of this school for 8 years. As a small school and with the pandemic in the middle of that time, some programs and staff have changed; but what has not changed is the positive, encouraging, accommodating and flexible atmosphere. The school, staff, and community are there to provide, support, encouragement, mentoring, and opportunities--but students must take advantage of them. My child was disappointed, for example, that other students' capstone projects were not as robust as theirs. When you attend the school's project expos, you see that some students are doing very impressive work and are able to describe the outcomes and learning involved, while other students may be taking an easier path. Students are encouraged, not pushed. Internally motivated students can soar here. This school will do everything in their power to support your child: adjustments, administrative tasks, letters of recommendation, mentors.We highly recommend LTSA, especially to families looking for a more flexible and lower-stress alternative to local competitive high schools. Whether your child wants to go to trade school, UT Austin's engineering school, or Savannah College of Art and Design, they will be respected and supported at LTSA. ...More Reviews
