This school socially is still as it was over 50 years ago. If you are a football player or cheerleader you almost “walk on water.” If you had an older sibling or cousin that was a football player or cheerleader you are pretty much guaranteed a spot on the team. If you last name is Guidry, or Calais you’re almost a local celebrity even if you personally never accomplished a thing in your life. Unfortunately, it’s not just the students that treat this “click” like this it’s also the teachers, staff and Principals. This school is all about “clicks” , and class warfare. If you don’t fit into one of the boxes that they check off as be acceptable then you are harassed at school and online, even everywhere in public in the small towns. The only charges that I have seen is the school and the students have become more “woke.” There is increased violence, but I think that is unfortunately the case in most schools.A good change is French Emerson classes. More college prep classes.-although they do not prepare they kids for classes in college. There still are a few good teachers in the school that do care. The parents are almost all alumni so they are either expecting their children to be treated special like they were or because of who they were/are! Or they are parents who are now successful and trying to live their dream through their children. Or the ultimate, those claiming revenge on the bullies of their past. It’s just a vicious cycle. Most people who move their children away from there usually end up much happier and excelling in school. Children who move into Cecilia for the most part will do ok. It’s exciting for the students to meet someone new, someone that they haven’t known since primary school.I just hope the teachers and staff will at least acknowledge how divisive and disgustingly distructive of an environment that has been created here. They need to step up and make a change! Any one of those movies made in the 80’s could have been made there, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club and could have started with Dazed and Confused that depicted the 70’s. There were drugs, hazing and egging houses. Our burger joint was Sonic in neighboring town. The town of rival football team.

The amount of bullying that goes on will never change. Adults are equally as bad. Administration is a joke, teachers gossip just as much as students. The scores are irrelevant when students are suffering from mental health issues directly stemming from attending this school. Current leaders in 2022 are an embarrassment. If you aren’t a football player or have the correct last name, expect to eat alone and endure torment.

CHS hasn't hanged much over the years. There are more important things than football and cheerleading. CHS does NOT prepare your child for college or life out of the "bubble". Too many girls get pregnant and go on WIC and welfare. This lifestyle repeats generation after generation. ROTC training would be great but it is absent at CHS.

CHS's last biology EOC test scores were higher than both other high schools in st martin parish put together and their ACT scores are best in the parish as of 2012. Cecilia's school grade as a whole is a "B" while other high schools in the parish are "C" and lower.
