so my son, a student who has been with Verda James all the way since kindergarten, who is now in fifth grade… I have to say I am highly, highly disappointed in how 50% of the staff have treated him, along with allowed other children to treat him as well as children treating children awful. never in my 30 years of life have I ever seen a situation where a student was allowed to have their parental figure their actual classroom teacher, that is one thing that completely threw me for a loop and definitely had effects in the classroom. The child in question has bullied my son for four years straight now, and his parents being the teachers that work there have enabled him to the point where I’m damned if I do, damned if I don’t… But it is most certainly a conflict of interest. Nevertheless, for being a school that has DLI I also have not seen so much racism in a school itself than with Verda James. My son is kind, he is very intelligent, and he is very well spoken so when he felt a certain way about a student being racially profiled, and spoke up… For the teachers to then tell him…. Basically completely disregarded his feelings, and then gas lit him into trying to believe that it was not racist, the racism was coming from my son himself, who is actually Hispanic. I am just lost for words and completely disgusted. The people who work here, these facilitators they definitely will pick and choose, and they will always put what makes them and or Verda James look best. Never the students. especially if they are of any race. I felt as though it was more of a dictatorship.

I absolutely love that my children go here. I wasn't happy with the curriculum that my neighborhood school was using, so we chose Verda and it has been an overwhelmingly positive experience. Great group of kids, caring staff, family friendly atmosphere. We love Verda James!

Very good school....staff were very friendly. We are moving back for next year and trying to get my 2 boys back but there but there is a waiting list.

My daughter went to this school 2013-2014 school year and loved it. Teachers really care about the students. I agree with other poster- principal is very involved and cares. Only complaint is communication with teacher about my child was difficult. No replies to emails or phone calls. Other than that loved the school and staff. Office staff is awesome.

We love how great the teachers and other staff are at this school. They have always gone above and beyond. The principal seem to very involved and aware of all that is going on. There is always a smile to greet you when you walk in the door. Very polite office staff.

the office people are so rude and condescending. There is no communication between the office, teachers, and parents. horrible school :(
