We have been very happy with Echo Park. The teachers, principal, and assistant principal work very hard and truly care about students.

Terrible experiences with this school. Discrimination were my daughter that is black was denied a snack in front of the class while others got a snack. Staff constantly tried to brainwash her and put their own way of parenting in her brain. They also do not give homework so parents would not know what their child is working on. I had to send several emails requesting that. No cultural competency / no professional boundaries and no respect for families privacy. Go straight to the department of education with complaints. The school district will only say have a meeting with the school and no progress will happen. I regret putting my daughter in this school. Eagan school district is great as well as district 197.

The school is diverse but not as great fir students of color. The school is also known to be accident prone where students get hurt constantly. The staff is also known for being very sensitive and having their feelings hurt a lot. I do not recommend this school.

I am an active parent volunteer at Echo Park Elementary, and I have been involved in the school for several years. I have a lot of experience there, and I consider myself quite knowledgeable when it comes to this school. I am extremely happy with how my children have grown both emotionally and intellectually there. They are happy, and they have been challenged to meet their potential. The culture at Echo Park is diverse and accepting. I can attest to the class sizes being small-I am there sometimes daily, and my volunteer efforts require exact numbers to distribute things to children. The majority of class sizes are 20 students or below, and no kindergarten class is above 18 students. All children have the opportunity to participate in at least three classroom parties per year, as well as many educational and exciting field trips. The office staff is wonderful and works as a cohesive group, and the teachers are excellent. It is true that lots of changes are occurring with Echo Park’s current magnet transition—all are good in my opinion. The new principal is active in the school and listens to, and follows through with, parental concerns. She is doing a great job of pulling things together, and thankfully, she will be staying for at least another year. Four new classrooms and a fabrication lab are in the process of being built. New office facilities and security measures are being installed. In addition to this expansion, children have access to current technology such as chromebooks and ipads often daily. Overall this school is well balanced and I have absolutely no concerns about my children being there. It is truly a “GREAT SCHOOL”.

Our oldest had a decent experience at Echo Park. She attended from K-5th grade and the majority of her teachers were fairly good. Our middle child was part of the PenguinPreschool pilot program, and while the teachers were nice, the school as a whole seemed to decline over the years. Classroom sizes grew tremendously (I believe 28 kids per class) and they had to remove computer labs and such spaces to accommodate added classrooms. I wouldn't say Echo Park is a bad school, just bursting at the seams and having too many kids without the needed space. Because of the growth, it seemed to us that unless your child received special services, they were lost in the crowd. There was nothing special or added for the children who are doing well enough to get by. All of the time and focus goes towards translating, special needs and delinquent children. With a very broad range of upbringings, children who are not on assistance (free/reduced lunch), are not part of special Ed, or do not need extra help and encouragement, are often overlooked. The school is proud of their diversity and boasts about it, but rather than celebrate all religions and nationalities, they have opted to remove all from the classrooms, including eliminating parties and such that the kids have looked forward to over the years. The school has recently had a turn over of teachers, as well as a new principal, so hopefully this brings change for future students. We have decided to open enroll our middle and youngest child to another school within the district that is a better fit for our family.

Echo Park Elementry is AMAZING. My kindergartener has had an amazing teacher in Ms. Welters. I love to pick up my student and find her holding her teacher's hand and then skipping to the car giving me a total rundown of her day as soon as the door opens. The staff are very helpful and in tune to the students. Any issues we have had have been dealt with immediately and appropriately. As a grandparent, I have always felt welcome in my student's classroom for parties and Star student days.

"We love Echo Park ! The teachers have been wonderful and the staff is very helpful. The curriculum, classes, and programs have exceedingly met the needs of both of my children. It's a school that you can be confident your child is receiving the best possible education. The school offers my children a unique, character defining, and academic enriched platform that truly enables them to be successful.We have been blessed to be a part of this school.

I went to this school 7 odd years ago and I absolutely loved it everyone was so nice and welcoming especially the principle and the nurse!!!! Great school!!! if you have kids and you live in the area that's the school you should take them too!!
