Central is a great place that continues to innovate as best as it can despite the space limitations. This is the fastest growing school district around, probably across Northern Illinois. It needs new facilities to alleviate enrollment challenges, but the staff is dedicated, the culture is strong, and the community is passionate. Sports are great. They have winning programs. The marching band is one of the best!

I have had two children go to this high school. Moving into this district is one of the worst decisions I've made for my family. B. Central is a racist, homophobic, transphobic school. Look up the history of this school and news reports! My child was bullied and mistreated. Administration does nothing to help or support kids here. The school would not honor my child's 504 plan. I had to hire an advocate to have success in getting support for my child. There was one really awesome coach there. I am grateful for that. Otherwise, this is a disaster of a school. Thank goodness my kids are naturally smart and capable of getting into college without much support. Warning-- if your child needs any support at all, any guidance at all, you will not get it at Central. Your child will be on his/her own!

One of the wordt schools ever. Teachers are poor and kids are way out of line.

My experience at this school has not been great. I thought it would get better, but it never did. As a teacher, I did not have the support from administration that I hoped. I cannot discredit everyone at this school, because there are some teachers and faculty members that did provide support. It is great that there is a teacher's union to help us. If you do not fit the description of a straight, white male, I do NOT recommend working at Burlington Central High School. You will be discriminated against, whether you see it or not. It would be great to bring change to this school, but it will be very difficult to do. It is a shame to think that students receive education in schools that reflect this type of negativity.

It was okay. It's a high school, with a great band but not much else. The music department is far and away the best in the region, and we're given a lot of opportunity to take advanced and AP classes, but as a high school, it's pretty average.

Wonderful faculty and they are striving for improvement on all fronts.

This school lacks respectable teachers. The students don't respect many of the teachers due the daily actions of the teachers. Techers are trying to be the students "friends" instead of authoratative figures. There aren't enough opportunities to challenge those students who excel in school. Other districts have so many more options for AT students. As far as the administrative staff, they are not willing to step out of the box to help a student in need. They would rather sweep things under the rug and keep things quiet to protect their tiny school. They are not putting the children first! If you are looking for sports don't expect many opportunities. They offer very few sports in this district.

Overall, definitely not recommended. The different departments for the school are all bad, except maybe the english and the math department. Homework is a pain to keep track of, especially since everything is online and your calendar is spammed with classwork, which makes it difficult to find your actual homework. Tests are bad. Many of the teachers use other teachers tests, which means there are many things on there that no one in the class knows about. Overall a poor experience with the teachers and departments of this school. The students and bullying policies are ok I guess but the school does nothing to enforce the dress code policy.

i have had two children in the district. One with severe learning deficit. They didnt have the resources or staff with any experience. I had to hire a advocate to help me get my daughter into a program, Mid-Valley. My second child is in the highschool, I called a meeting to ask for specific help(she has a IEP) but so far none of the teachers have gone above and beyond. I even accidentally recieved a email between two staff members who were making fun of my daughter.

I am a parent where 2 students have graduated, and my 3rd student will graduate this year from Burlington Central High School.I have found several of the sports programs excellent from the standpoint that the coaches are passionate about the sport and encouraging students. If you have a student with any special needs you will not get the assistance or support that your student and family need. RUN GO TO ANOTHER DISTRICT!The administration, councelors.. including social worker, dean, psycologist, principal, any staff member that may participate in an IEP or 503, have been unprofessional, seems to have delayed support, poor communication, and essentially they do not know what to do with this new diagnosis. When your student and family learn about a new disability diagnosis, you need a supportive district, not one that adds more stress and is antagonistic towards your student and family.

I've attended this school for three years, so I feel as if I have a well-rounded opinion. The school puts a lot of effort in certain areas of improvement, but the downside is that most of the teachers won't care about you unless YOU as a student show that you care. If you put in effort, that teacher will care. There is a lot of involvement in sports and other clubs, which is good. Students go wild at football and basketball games, and the stands are always full. One downside is that the school is focused on always making scored high to look good. They just want students to score well on standardized and ACT/(now SAT) tests to they look better academically. The board doesn't care about the students, but counselors do. Many interesting classes are offered starting sophomore-junior year too, and early graduation is an option. A major downside is that the school is less diverse, and that it is in the middle of cornfields. Their lunch is not stellar at all, thanks to a certain First Lady... However, they do offer some very good alternatives and snacks. They keep VERY good track of anything bad going on inside the school, and bullying isn't really an issue anymore.
