This school sucks, never coming back ever. The kids there are so rude and they judge you for every little thing, and the school says they have 0 tolerance for bullying yet when you tell them about it they don't even do anything about it.

My son is in 7th grade and in the GATE program. He has has some really fantastic teachers, some good ones, and only one that is not so good so far. Most of the teachers do not assign a lot of homework which is great, but they do expect quality and effort. GATE classes and the advanced math classes are accelerated, and they expect the students to keep up. Homework/class work assignments are well communicated online, as is grade progress, so it is pretty easy to know what your kid needs to get done, and how they are progressing if you stay up to date. My advice is participate in your kids learning, and it will help immensely with their progress. My son mostly is not a fan of school in general, but having good teachers, active participation by his dad and I, and a small group of good friends has helped keep him on track academically. This school also participates in CJSF. The school seems pretty safe, but he stays out of trouble and avoids the kids that are doing stupid things and getting in fights. He is aware of some kids using drugs, vaping, being sexually active, so as a parent you should be aware this is part of the environment and prep your kid and communicate on these subjects accordingly. The arts program is OK, drama program seems good though I don’t know this directly. instrumental music program is there though my kid’s experience is kids who take it for and “easy A” are disruptive and take up most of the teachers energy (the teacher is new and enthusiastic so hopefully this will improve). Spanish language program is good from what I can tell, but it is an elective and not automatic ( the teacher is great!). Accelerated math offered and available for students who qualify academically, GATE program offers good support and academics for the kids.

So far, things are good. My daughter enjoys her classes and friends and her grades are good. Teachers are effective and fun too. I would really like to see a hange in the front office of the school. Unfortunately, the office staff is so unpleasant that I will do everything I can to avoid calling the school or having to go into the office. Its a shame that these unhappy people have to be the first impression Luther Burbank Middle Schcool shows.

The Special Education at Luther Burbank Middle School needs work. The information given to me was that the school does not even have a teacher for the Special Day class. The students in the class are not properly mainstreamed and the Administration is not consistent. I would not recommend this school to any parent that wants to advocate for their kid. The Administration seems to like to control everything and parental input is not welcomed.

Some teachers (math) are great. Others are hit or miss. Some academic teachers actually harmful in their desire to make it as hard as possible for students to "get them ready for high school." Overall impression is that Jordan is the more nurturing, confidence-building school. Principal is great, office staff good too.

Love Dr. Macias and staff. Everyone is trying hard, counselors are helpful, and teachers are motivated. Middle school can be a rough time for kids, but this group is really committed to helping. Sports and PE group is terrific. Cheer team is amazing. Music program overall outstanding.

Great school climate and atmosphere. There is a sense of family and belonging. Teachers seem to invest their time and effort to work with their students. Amazing performing arts program. It is lacking in not having a Drama program.Have noticed a big positive difference with the new principal and school administration team.

My oldest son attended Muir. We were disappointed when my second son was assigned to Luther (due to permit). My views quickly changed after one semester. My son quickly acclimated to the school and I saw a level of involvement that I didn't see at Muir. My daughter will be in 8th grade this year and has a 504 (special education) plan. Each year her counselor meets with us to plan out her year. Last year, I ran into the vice principal in a local store. She told me how she hand-picked my daughter's teachers for her for the year, knowing her special needs. My daughter had a fantastic year. I know that Muir may have the slightly higher test scores, but I am convinced that Luther has a higher caliber teacher and exceptional administration that care on a personal level about the students they teach. This school is PHENOMENAL! I understand why it is now the preferred middle school in the district.

The Principal, Vice Principal and all of the teaching staff are AMAZING. My son is in 8th grade now and it has been such a wonderful experience for him. The teachers are so supportive and work very hard to help the kids succeed. My son has done exceptionally well at Luther and it is with a heavy heart we have to leave. I wish they taught all the way until 12th grade!
