The education provided at this institution is severely lacking and does not meet even the most basic standards. Students are not given the necessary resources or materials to properly learn and succeed. To put it simply, this is not a school that I would recommend anyone attend.

I was in Shalsheles for 11th and 12th grade. It was one of the most positive school experiences I had out the many schools I attended. I have so much gratitude to Mrs. Goodstien and Mrs. Dresdner.Mrs. Goodstien and Mrs. Dresdner genuinely care and give their hearts and souls to their students. In Shalsheles I was able to start to have a positive relationship with judaism, seeing it could actually improve my life instead of a being a weight on me.It's true, the school is not a very academic school. For me, it was good that there weren't too many assignments, since time management always been a struggle. Also, by the the time I started Shalsheles, I already had a good grasp of most subjects, so I didn't feel I was missing out.The teachers are extremely dedicated, definitely not in it for the paycheck. The school is very underfunded, so the building is not the nicest, though they are raising money for a new buildingAll in all, my experience at Shalsheles was very positive. I found it a warm, non judgmental environment.SIDENOTE: I actually stumbled across this review site when I looked up the school to give them a donation. That should give you an idea of the appreciation I have for this school. Most schools don't have alumni donating only a couple of years after graduating.

Horrible school. Education is very bad. Teachers are not certified to teach. Bunch of 19yr old teachers who need to be taught themselves. Principles will lie to you in the face of how good the school is, but the reality will hit you in the face once your daughter starts attending that school.Dont believe what they say and don't waste your time and money.Students are nasty. Worse then public school kids.I wish I could send my daughters back to public school.

It is a school that focuses on each child's growth. Most of the teachers are quite young but I would definitely say that they are VERY qualified. I have gone to and worked in other schools and I have seen much. Never in my life have I experienced such warmth and connection and care. It may be that there are other schools more focused on education, but what's education if a girl comes out of school with a rotten feeling about life?! Shalsheles is the school that will care about education, but more so about EACH individual student.

My twin daughters joined this school this September. They had a great year. The teachers were warm and caring. The principal's and Rabbi kuggelman are always there for you no matter what. There's nothing to big that they can't solve. The material was very challenging. My girls had a lot of homework. The school had shabbattons and holidays parties for family interaction. I never seen a better school. Thanks for your love, support and guidance.

This is a school that prepares you for life better than other schools. The teachers care deeply about the students deeply and teach them that high marks are just part of the equation. It's rare to see a school where the students and teachers are like family but Shalsheles Bais Yaakon IS that School.

This is a school which focuses more on Judaic studies. You will receive secular education but unfortunately, it will be very limited compared to other schools. Teachers are straight out of high school, no college education whatsoever. (Not surprising considering they have such little funding). They do offer services from board of education to students who require it. I'd say it's a good school for students who don't want to consider public school but are not ready for really religious schools.
