I wish I could say good things but it is just not a good school. Local public school is just a lot better and has more to offer .

The schools action when it comes to reporting awful things happening is absurdly bad, multiple times have I went to communicate an issue and nothing came of it. I'd recommend allowing students to have phones until they use them improperly so they can have evidence of abuse, whether it be student or teacher reporting or being reported on. Not to mention the lack of proper lessons. That I ready program isn't teaching. Sitting students down and telling them to read chapters of a book isn't learning. Saying "Do this page" and not explaining anything, or explaining very little isn't teaching. Repeating information given to you doesn't teach anyone anything. This is all constructive criticism, and all issues listed may be changed in the future.

The school environment is just near inhospitable. The faculty considers themselves family-oriented, but it’s clear there’s some “nepotic-like” actions going on and they focus on protecting themselves more than the students. There are students who were emotionally distressed, learning without adequate reinforcement, subtle and sometimes clear acts of discrimination towards students, disciplinary actions showcased by the teachers that were not “student-friendly,” and parents who were sometimes misinformed about what’s really going on at the Academy. Speaking of teachers, if berating and embarrassing the students - both physically and mentally - are considered motivational, then that what what I saw - and A LOT of it.The few saving graces, however, were the special education teachers as well as some of the parents and very few awesome teachers; those few people just get how education works - even though the majority of the staff can’t get out of their little bubble. They get that some things have got to change at the Academy, but the faculty were refusing to “see the light” - and still don’t. Unless you want your child to enroll in a school this close-minded and bent on strictness, I wouldn’t recommend this school. Their namesake is not being upheld - not by a long shot.

We love this school. Amazing teachers and kids. We are really happy that we have schools like this in Brooklyn.

I have two children who attended Good Shepherd Catholic Academy. I am extremely pleased with everything the school has taught them to be prepared for a successful future. Under the leadership of the new principal as well as the new academy board I am sure there are even greater things to come for Good Shepherd Catholic Academy. I highly recommend sending your children here.

A safe, nurturing environment! My kids are receiving a well rounded education and being taught values and respect just like at home. Catholic faith is always kept strong in each and every class and event. Love this small school and wish it got more recognition in the community. The local public schools are all over-crowded and institutionalized. So happy GS is here!

My children are a part of the good shepherd family. I am extremely happy knowing they are in a safe, nurturing environment for education. Discipline is important to me as well. I know my children are learning to be kind and well mannered and the standards I have at home are not thrown out the window at school. My children have learned so much. I'm very pleased with the progress of their education.

My daughter attends Good Shepherd School. My husband and I are extremely pleased with the teachers, staff and the principal. We have found it to be a nurturing environment. The teachers at Good Shepherd School are excellent with the children. They sincerely care about their development. We will happily be keeping our child in Good Shepherd.
