This school has been a miracle for our family. We are so glad it is in our community and that it is run in such a loving, nurturing way. All students are truly valued and all families are supported to ensure their child has the best experience possible.

My two daughters 7 and 4 started going to the laurel day camp this summer and they love it so much. They can be very shy and were nervous they wouldn't know anyone and the staff was so supportive and kind that they warmed right up and can't wait to go! They do so many fun "camp" things with them that other day camps I find are lacking in. They come home singing all the fun camp songs and talking about all the different classes they take during the day!

We love this school, the teachers, the head of the school Amy Carrol and all the teachers and staff!! We couldn't be happier here and our daughter has blossomed in the one year we have been here. We looked at a lot of schools and we are so glad we chose the Laurel School (and camp)!

My child had an exceptional year at the Laurel School. I noticed the difference in philsophy immediately. At the Laurel School, it was all about what my child needed, and what they could do to encourage her to learn and explore. It is not a "fancy" school, the philosophy and learning are based on teaching kids to be good learners and good people: to respect and get along with other people. The teachers were excellent (tough at times, but appropriately so), and my child was really able to learn with the structure and safety they provided. I always felt that I could discuss my daughter or her progress with the teachers or the administrator at any time. Jacqui BeebeI wrote this years ago! My daughter is now in 6th grade. She was at Laurel from K-5, and had an amazing experience there. She is doing well in 6th grade socially and academically and I think she had a tremendous beginning at Laurel. (2015)

The Laurel Day Camp was our first experience with an American summer camp and our first summer at the Cape. Everyday my son came home happy and excited about Laurel Day Camp. There were enough boys his age (8/9 years) for him to bond with and form great friendships with. The specific activities were spot on. He totally enjoyed them and loved kayaking. The counselors were kind and energetic and he truly enjoyed the youth CIT counselors. Every evening he could not wait for camp to start again. I loved the positive energy that I encountered every day when I brought him to camp. Both Amy and Courtney are always there with a smile and a very positive attitude. It was wonderful to be able to walk in and help him put his stuff in the locker, say hi to the different counselors and watch him meet up with his buddies. I felt a great sense of community during camp. I was able to meet some of the other parents/grandparents and arrange play dates and exchange phone numbers. Lost items were always handled with genuine kindness, understanding and professionalism. I would highly recommend Laurel Day Camp to other parents.

The Laurel School in Brewster is a wonderful choice for Preschool. The programs that they offer far exceed any other preschool programs on Cape. My 3yr old has thrived here. He has Spanish, Art, Music and Dance and Movement. Along with their high standards of academics they also have a Mentors Program with the Elementary students. We are so pleased! Highly recommend this school.

The Laurel School is a small school with a BIG heart. We chose The Laurel School for our son because of the small class sizes, caring staff and engaging curriculum. The school works as a community to encourage responsibility, sensitivity and resourcefulness in all students.

A few, no doubt well meaning but wildly overprotective parents, took control of the school board last year and mismanaged their agenda to the point of ruining the once very kind and caring atmosphere of this little school. Enrollment has plummeted and now the sad hand writing is on the wall. By forcing resignations of some quality employees and the callous firing of another, all the while hiding behind "confidentiality," a small group have decimated this once quality school. It's greatest asset was a few extraordinary educators and administrators who's long time service and efforts made the Laurel school special. Now they're gone and replaced with what? Luckily, those top teachers, who left of their own will because of a board out of control, have banded together and have taken the initiative to keep that spirt of kindness, caring and great education alive by creating a new school. A great school is a combination of great teachers, a dedicated administration and an atmosphere where parents recognize it's not just about your child, but about the school becoming a partnership for all. At the Laurel School, the best of all these have already left the building.

The Laurel School in Brewster is a loving, caring and nurturing place where the teachers are fully committed and investing in the students. We have been going there for 3 yrs and know that there has been change but we couldn't be happier with all the new people, especially Dr. Jeff Beedy.

It is a shame that the internal politics destroyed a good school. Our teacher completely abandoned her class and used a litany of excuses to have an absence rate of @ 1/3rd of the school year. The poor timing of various events, fundraisers, and volunteering to announcements really took advantage of our generosity. How they handled being transparent about next year class sizes, which teachers would still be there and the timing of deposits which they wouldn't refund on any condition even if held for a few hours. I won't even get into the atmosphere of the school this last year.

My Daughter started in Preschool and graduated 5th. She had an amazing experience at Laurel but it was not until she entered the public system that Laurel's academic excellence really became clear. She entered sixth grade at Lighthouse leap years ahead of her peers in almost every way. Enrolling at the Laurel School really was the best thing I could have ever done for my Daughter!

This is a wonderful school with excellent teachers and caring families that has experienced a long overdue change of administration and is poised to be even greater in very short order. The Laurel School is like no other on the Cape, and those who really know the school well understand the best is yet to come, and soon.

The Laurel School is a fantastic school. I have been a parent at this school for a long time. The reason why we are there is because of the fantastic teaching staff and also the individualized instruction. The teachers are supportive of all of the students and they know the names of the children from preschool to fifth grade. I experienced a bullying situation several times with the old administration that was completely mishandled. The current administration that has been implemented is making some much needed changes to the school and trying to bring back a sense of community for all of the children. Schools are all about happy an productive children. They should never w about politics. Changes are often hard to accept, but they are necessary for continued improvement! This is a statesmen that occurs in every aspect of life. This school is a wonderful place for children to learn and thrive.

I will echo the previous poster who complained about bullying at Laurel. I reached out to both our child's teacher and the principal regarding this issue, to no avail. I too witnessed the bullying, which included name calling and shoving, yet nothing was done about it. I ultimately decided to transfer my child to another school and am happy to report that she is now thriving. This is a school where the staff claim to encourage a close - knit community, but they really just have dollar signs in their eyes. How sad.

The school has sadly gone downhill, largely due to the current administration. Communication is often unclear, and certain problems fail to be addressed effectively.

The Laurel School has been a wonderful experience for my child. The academics are challenging and engaging for her. And the Teachers do a wonderful job enriching the curriculum . I find the communication between parents and teachers to be terrrific. This has been a great fit for my child and our family. Students learn traditional curriculum while being able to express their creativity . The Laurel School offers a wonderful learning and community experience. R. Sigel

My daughter had the most fantastic year at Laurel. I am so thrilled with the quality of the teachers, the responsive administration, and overall warmth of the school community. As a new family, we were embraced and my daughter immediately felt comfortable. She has separation anxiety, and her teacher and the Head of School have been incredible in helping with this. She feels safe and secure, and I always feel confident that she is getting the best care and education available. The academic and creative curriculum far surpasses other schools I've seen. As a former educator myself, I highly recommend The Laurel School without hesitation.
