We have loved Muir for years, 5 of our children have attended over a 16 year period of time. The teachers and other other school employees have been wonderful and provided opportunities for our children to grow and succeed. This year, there is new administration and my son feels fearful and unsafe due to stringent and cold leadership. The environment of care and concern for our children that has been fostered for years, is disintegrating and I am very concerned that our kids best interest or the support of our teachers is taking a back seat to other agendas.

This school is wonderful. The new administration this year runs a tight ship and there is a noticeable difference in the behavior of the students. They are more disciplined and respectful. A family member of mine (who is a student) was slipping through the cracks educationally and is now getting immense support and care from the principal and their teacher. There is amazing parent volunteer support and because of generous fundraising donations made by the community the classrooms are well stocked and fun field trips are planned for the kids. Not only do they have Student Council and Hope Squad, but also Spirit Squad, so there's opportunity for more kids to be a part of something. The school musical every year is outstanding and involves a pretty big group of students and parent helpers. I would definitely recommend this as an amazing school for children to attend.

This was until recently an amazing school. The past several principals have been great, building a unified community. There is a new principal who has very quickly destroyed years of growth. She has berated teachers and staff, telling them that they are worthless. She is cold to staff and students. She has been rude to our PTO as well. We parents have noticed things falling apart and are trying to get some help from whatever sources are available to rescue our community school. Excellent teachers, caring staff and parents, but find another school for now if you can. I hope to be able to post a positive update in the future.

We couldn’t be happier with Muir and plan to stay in our neighborhood so our kids can attend here through 6th grade.

Wow! I couldn't believe that our Muir Elementary has such a low rating on Great Schools!. We absolutely love Muir. A majority of my children have gone there. The teachers are incredible. The principal is quick to respond to any issue we have had. I wonder if the Chines immersion program is bringing down test scores or something because sometimes the kids in the program take a while to catch up--but when they do, they certainly surpass all expectations. I would totally recommend this school to anyone. My kids have been safe and happy here and learned a lot. It's an awesome school (and we have gone to 5 different elementary schools across the country so we have some others to compare it to).

The patent support is amazing. We also have been pleased with our daughters experience in the Chinese immersion program.
