Crockett has improved a lot in the past five years. Almost all its teachers are new. My grand children love the school and their teachers. Complaints are resolved quickly and teachers stay in touch all the time. No school is perfect but Crockett is good.

The school needs way better staff as for keeping up on kids picking on kids. My daughter begs me to put her in another school all the time. Need to improve bullying in the school and on the buses. When my kid gets picked on enough she finally stands up for herself and she is the punished for it not the ones that has called her curse words daily. Very sad.

A new Crockett Elementary (3rd/4th grade) was completed in 2008 that is connected to the new Gateway Elementary (1st/2nd grade). The schools have separate principals and staff but share a library, gym and lunch room. Although the schools in Borger have been improving, there is still an achievement gap and TAKS scores lag behind state averages. The level of education your child receives at the school is very teacher dependent. If you get a good teacher and class, you will do fine. (Ask around for recommendations/declines.) Curriculum is weak in the Borger schools, in general. Unless your child is in PEAK (1 hour + a week pull out G/T ) , advanced students will not be challenged. Parents are not very involved with the school. We haven't had any problems with the school, just not very impressed overall. Hopefully, the new superintendent will make changes.
