My child has attended LHE for 5 years and we've been happy with this school and the staff. We've had good teachers and there are always fun events and extra curricular activities for kids and families.

I found this website because I had been struggling for a few years with lake hazel as a whole and was searching for something to change mind- I always look for a bright side. But I struggle to find the positive (past some of the teachers) at LHE. Even before the extremities of covid (to which I feel was handled very poorly at lake hazel directly because of jen logan). For numerous reasons, we started off as a happy family starting their public education journey hopeful for all the new experiences but slowly turned into a defeated bunch- parents and kids alike.Through the years we have gone back and forth with leaving because it seemd to just keep getting worse and worse.lake hazel has quite a few incredible teachers (many that have sadly decided to leave -understably). The principal however is awful.yes- she does 'know everyone's name' and smiles to parents and visitors but that is where the hospitality stops. Her lack of compassion for the students and ANY diversity is overwhelmingly sad. I speak from seeing this in person and from having personal experience with this through my kids but also several other kids and parents as I have had MULTIPLE families share their grief with me.I truly feel that Jen Logan shadowed my kids elementary school experience in a way that negatively impacted their (original) love for learning and education.Just to add as a side note- this is a genuine review.I am not some scorned parent of a 'troublemaker' that has a bitter taste in my mouth.I write this with a sadness because where as I know I had made the right decision to leave lake hazel- many people don't have that choice /option.if you're a parent and you have kids at LHE or are new here and considering them I would suggest you look at all of your options.again LHE has some phenomenal teachers but between Jen Logan and her secretary Salina Baldwin- I can almost guarantee you that your kid will feel dread every morning getting ready for school.I don't wish any negativity to them but I truly wish they would chose a different profession that doesn't involve children as it is very blantantly obvious how much they do not enjoy/appreciate them.

We’ve liked the teachers, we can see they work hard and enjoy the students. The education has been ok. The principal is another story. Jen Logan is what I would call a two faced mean girl. She doesn’t address bullying head on, and allows for inappropriate behavior in the classroom. Additionally, she gaslights parents who go to her with issues. This has been taken to the school board and hopefully steps will be taken to address it.

I agree, the ball was dropped many times throughout the year. My daughter was sexually harassed and bullied by students in her class and nothing was done. Fights happened regularly. Additionally, her teacher shamed the students for their test scores. Do better, Lake Hazel. Your lack of attention to these matters is unacceptable I’m sure an attorney would have a field day with you.

I felt like staff really dropped the ball this year. My child reported many fights that were happening at school. My child was bullied, little was done. Academics seemed to fall through the cracks as well. School was overall a bad experience.

The teachers are great! The principal knows every student. But the secretary, Salina Baldwin, is one of the most unfriendly people we’ve ever met. Between parents, the opinion is unanimous when it comes to her and her treatment of students and families. The kids are afraid of her, and so are we! She’s awful. I’m shocked she still has a job.

Bad enough that my daughter is being removed from school and we are transferring to a private school. Moving from Amity Elementary (a GREAT school btw!) to this school was the most disheartening educational choice we have ever made. Having 3 children, a high school graduate, middle school student and elementary student, we have worked with a lot of different teachers and environments, and there have been very few that we have been unable to work with. Even volunteering in the class room did not help foster positive relationships.

What a great school! The principal is so kind and always has a big smile on her face. All of the teachers I encountered at this school are so very nice. We moved here from Oregon last year and my son was in his 5th grade year at this school. He has some learning disabilities that his school in Oregon and I had been addressing since he was 4 and he was not getting better. The amazing team at Lake Hazel was able to give us some answers and give me tools to help him. Finally!! So thankful! The 5th grade celebration was way too cute! We both wish he could stay here for a couple more years!:-)

Very hard working teachers who focuses on each and every student. Student and teachers have a great bonding.
