We spend money on equipment, astro turf, and how much to those neon signs cost? Why didn't they invest money for more math, science, and english teachers? Now was purchasing neon signs and astro turf and the track field really in the best entrance of the students? As a tax payer I don't want my taxes going up failing Texas requirements that they loose sports are great but students who understand math, science, and can read/write. Big spring ISD has not passed state test requirements since 2008. We need to analyze the teachers, principals. Principals, and superintendent to see if they have a new plan and why are they still holding their positions? Our schools and children need every advantage we can offer them so one day they can be doctors, lawyers, even president. Those are long term plans. Athletics has a shelf life one child may do good but what about the rest of the children. Can the athletes read. Do math and science so when they can no longer be jocks they can get a good Job because we care enough to take time and teach them fundamentals. This school's focus is primarily on punishment to the student's who are the most disadvantaged and lacking in support from the home. Many "at-risk" students have been encouraged to "drop-out" when they pose too great of a challege to the truancy Administration to deal with a challanging student's unique situation. Therefore, exclusion and punishment rather than success through problem solving becomes many students' the choice for their High School career.

This school is wonderful. It is sad it does not get the high marks that it deserves. The teachers are hard working, love the children, and very creative. The students are also very hard working and respectful. The administration is incredibly supportive. There are lots of activities, even a chess club, something for everyone.
