As a parent of 2 students, I can’t say enough great things about Good Shepherd. This school provides an excellent education and sets the foundation for higher learning. Academically it is top-notch. The environment, the teachers and the parents provide for a family and faith driven community. Good Shepherd encourages and empowers the kids to develop both academically and personally. Great school!

My three children attended Good Shepherd Catholic School and had the most amazing experience. My children felt safe, cared for and had a great academic experience that lead to them being accepted into their first choice high school. As parents, we could not be happier with the level of family involvement that helped make us feel like a close-knit community. All in all, we highly recommend GSBH!

My two children went to GS school from elementary to middle school. They have best experience and educations. until now the see friends from the school and committed to help and volunteer still now.The got in Loyola hight school and IHHS with a great preparations.Totally Recommended.

Our child is in his second year of school at GSBH, and we could not be more pleased with his progress. He loves to learn and is excited to go to school every day. GSBH is very bright, clean and welcoming, with walls covered in fun art projects and pictures of happy students. The teachers are very creative and effective and the staff is friendly and helpful. GSBH uniquely offers Pre-K and TK in addition to K-8th grade, so the students really grow up together. It also means that the younger students are exposed to a more academic pre-school experience than the average daycare provides. All of the classes are very small, fostering a lot of one-on-one attention and a very close bond among the classmates. In the afternoons, the school offers optional music lessons, extracurricular sports and a fun after school program. We feel very lucky to have found GSBH!

We have two children who have attended GSBH since TK and are now both in the middle school/junior high grades there. Over the years we have been very happy with the balance between the rigorous curriculum and the welcoming and nurturing school community. The teachers are excellent, especially those in junior high where it's crucial to prepare the students for success in high school. You should consider whether a small school - where your children will generally be with the same classmates for 8+ years - is the right fit for your family. Personally, we have found GSBH to be a gem of a school that offers an excellent education, a variety of extracurricular activities, and very importantly, a close-knit school community of families.

Wonderful school with a great community. It has a great educational standards and a very enriching environment for developing brains. The location of the school is such that it enhances safety. I would highly recommend the school.

Both of my daughters have been attending GSBH since Kindergarten. They love the school and we as parents love the school. My husband and I are thankful and consider ourselves blessed to have been able to find an academic environment where our daughters are flourishing. The faculty is amazing, and very hands on. We also greatly appreciate the small class sizes.

My experience at this school has been nothing short of negative. I will go over all the categories listed below and how GSBH handled them. First off, homework. I find that the homework given was a good amount that any school should have, but not much of it seemed important. It all just looked like frivilous assignments to keep them busy rather than teach. Secondly, for the staff, although there were a couple motivated teachers, the rest felt unmotivated and tired, which I honestly pity. It makes me question if they're getting paid enough for work as hard as teaching, but the teachers mentioned previously as motivated were very kind and interested in their job. Thirdly, the leadership isn't horrendous, the principal seems to be dedicated to the wellbeing of the school and is doing the best job she can, and being short-staffed, that job can't be easy. Next is on how they build character. They're committed to "Christian morals" but blindly force them onto the student body rather than teach them unbiasedly, so they often have a warped perception on how to act, as my child has told me about the shocking behavior exhibited by some of the students. I don't have much to say on how the staff handles learning differences, but almost all the bullying cases I've seen in other reviews and heard from via my child have been targeted at children with them. Lastly, with what's frankly the school's BIGGEST issue is bullying. Children here run around calling others derogatory terms, harrassing, and speaking to other children without manners and go seemingly unpunished. A friend of mine's child was run out of the school not long ago because of how discriminatory his class was to him. Overall, I do not recommend this school due to it's instability, small size, and frightening culture, and I'm glad I was able to leave when I was.

My two daughters are in their second year at Good Shepherd and I can't say enough good things. We are not Catholic, and were presently surprised at the religious and cultural diversity at the school. The education is wonderful, and our kids are flourishing. My older daughter is shy, and has completely come out of her shell, she is more confident and happy than ever. The teachers are supportive and the leadership is excellent.

We used to love it and now we are extremely disappointed with the direction the school is going. We are locked in to one more year, but if things don't turn around, we will be leaving. Academics are in decline which is evident from the test scores and the inability of the graduating students to be accepted into the top schools in the area.

This is the worse school, for academic as well as social reasons, that my child has attended. The school leadership and most of its teachers are apathetic and lack the motivation to strive for the type of excellence that is needed to teach students. It is truly a shame because one would think that the only Catholic School in Beverly Hills would strive to live up to the expected reputation it has based on its location - but, as the old adage says -- everything that glitters isn't always gold.

We have been at the school since pre-k and our son will be graduating this year. We also have an older son who graduated and a younger daughter in the 6th grade. The school is an excellent small school. The school is outstanding - we are very grateful.

My child is happy at Good Shepherd and that to me is very important. The students care about each other and are always well-behaved. We look forward to more years in this school.

After touring the school I can say this: it has a great homey atmosphere and environment. It also appears to have terrific and dedicated parent and PTA involvement. What concerns me most is curriculum. It seems to be behind standards. Secondly, would be the high teacher turnover it raises big questions for me. Along with that would be the very low class sizes in the older grades. Last but not least, is the very obvious lack of diversity. I truly wish I could give it five stars but sadly, I can't.

This school is awesome with the new principal. They have an excellent sports program, and every year, the eighth grade puts on a play directed by the eighth grade teacher, Mrs. Widmann. This year, it was The Sound of Music. Also, the music program is extraordinary, and the school got a new tech upgrade, too! Now, every student has a school MacBook pro of their own, and the younger kids get iPads! Excellent School. Bring your children here.

I am very concerned. On one hand, my child is happy at this school - the children are sweet and sociable. On the flip side - I have to look at the evidence of children who are being tested against other schools - that they are more than a year behind curriculum and critical thinking wise. What are the reasons for this? I know that there is hardly any emphasis on science, critical thinking skills, creative writing or problem solving. The administration needs to look outwards at other schools for standards. Figure out why the country is moving towards common core (for critical thinking skills). And not just inwards. Because standards at the moment do appear comparatively low.

Took a tour and fell in love with the school tucked away in this lovely neighborhood....their kids are in some awesome high schools and we can't wait to start in the fall!
