While I attended this school, whenever I had a problem, I always knew I could turn to the staff members at the school. What I DIDN'T know was that they would ignore me and dismiss my grievances at every occurrence. The guidance counselor never listened to me or considered my well-being when I went to her when I was literally being bullied. She would make every attempt to look like a good guidance counselor, but never actually did anything. She was also super toxic and fake; she would literally let kids get bullied for being gay and then pretend to be there for them as if she wasn't condoning discriminatory behavior. The teachers here were on totally opposite sides of the spectrum. Some were good, but others were downright awful. They would publicly chastise students for the smallest things (ex. my 7th grade Social Studies teacher humiliated me in front of the entire class because my "l"'s looked like "h"'s. I mean seriously, she needs to chill. One of my teachers literally scared me out of taking Honors Physics in high school because he consistently reinforced a toxic work schedule and told me that I wasn't doing good enough in his class because I wasn't checking over my work multiple times, a process that would take me 5-6 hours PER NIGHT. When I tried to approach him about how his method was stressing me out, he completely ignored me. Every day I went to this school I was scared I would be embarrassed and ignored by teachers and staff that were meant to help me yet continually failed to do so. When I was in 5th grade, the gym teacher literally embarrassed me because I forgot to bring Deodorant ONE TIME. During 5th grade, I cried in school at least twice a month because of how toxic it was. One time when I was in 5th grade, the teacher told me I was being "ungrateful" because I didn't participate in Kickball (despite her saying that it was totally optional and for fun). She also called one of my friends "a little brat" after she was being bullied by another student. Almost all the teachers I had tried to exercise supreme authority and continually disregarded the feelings of the students. The food there isn't actual food, the chicken sandwiches never tasted like chicken, and all the food is artificial. After lunch, the staff literally let us play in the street near the school (which cars literally drive though like bro thats super dangerous). You could never rely on the staff to help you literally ever. When you go to this place, you're completely alone.

Please do not bring your kids to this school... the bullying problem is significant and the staff won't provide much help. Sure, there are some good teachers and staff members there that deserve better, but many will ignore important problems such as student mental health and fostering a welcoming community for all. Not to mention the guidance counselor who will make it her mission to worsen kids lives, do not trust that woman at all costs!!!! As someone who sadly went to that school, you can take it from me that it is not where you want to bring your kid, unless you want your kid to be bullied and develop trauma.

I'm entering 8th grade this year, & the past 3 years of this school were truely amazing! The achedemics were very helpful for later on in life and so are the teachers. The teachers are always there for you when there's something wrong and most of them are super kind. Also, the guidance councelor is truly sweet and easy to talk to. The school is also very easy to get around because it's kinda small. They also have a cheerleading squal, a basketball team, a soccer team, baseball & softball teams for you to try out for. So if your looking for a school to send your kids to, I definetly suggest Berkley Middle School. Go Eagles! :)
