I hate bms so much I come here everyday for the past 2 year and I haven’t learned a single thing. The only kids that get recognized are the popular kids or the kids of color. It gets so annoying cause all the popular kids fat shame, say racial slurs, don’t respect people’s boundaries, disrespect the teachers, and are over all so annoying. I do not recommend this school if you want your kid to start vaping, SH, or anything bad. There are a few kids that are nice and will respect you but a lot of the time there aren’t. The kids who aren’t ’normal’ get bullied and left out from a lot of things. I am personally apart of the lgbt community and I get harassed everyday cause of it. I’m still Christian and I get the jokes but a lot of kids still go to far. 2/10 don’t recommend

There was litterly 7 fights, AND IT WAS AT LUNCH, AND IT WAS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOl, also the kids were running out of there class even though they said to get in the class. even though this school is coatic, over all this schoolis a good school without fighting.

Overcrowded, and no personalized attention to students, lots of bullying, plus leadership that doesn’t follow through on discipline. One would hope that Benicia could do better than this. We pulled our child out halfway through the school year this year because of her horrible experience in sixth grade. This is the movie mean girls exemplified. Unfortunately my taxes are still paying for this because Looking for something better means you need to go private. When will district leadership step in and make some changes ?

My daughter attended in late 80's...great school. My grand daughter attended several years ago...vastly changed. No discipline, uninterested teachers, lax dress policy, and generally rude students, on campus and off. Twice in the last six months there have been misspellings on the Southampton Road bulletin board. Really? With the exception of the High School, in which the students are from an earlier era, the current administration has failed us all.

We have had a great experience with the award wining band program, and great education. Our two students were very prepared for high school. Sure this school has a lower rating than before, but they have tried to take in more diverse students, and it will take a while to get up to speed with the new challenges with the student body from areas outside Benicia. I have no doubt they will get there. We still recommend this school, and as the broken down scores show, if you apply yourself, you will do well here. Benicia is a great place to live as we know. Both our students got As and a few Bs and will be going on to college. Thank you.

Overall I would give this school high marks. I have had two students do three years each at this school, and both have benefited from the high quality band program here. Also they are both still on the honor roll going into high school. Part of the issues are that the state has constantly changed the requirements for testing and rating, and I know the school has had trouble keeping up at times. The test scores have been anywhere from 9 to 7 in resent years. I believe once the district recovers the school will get better ratings. Also we do have a very diverse student body, and we do take students from other areas to help serve the community. This is actually one of the best schools around, and that is why people love to live in Benicia.

this school is a joke. the teachers here try to make this a better place but it won't be. the school can be so nice that it can drive you crazy. they promote "no bullying" things. but it never works. some of the teachers are rude and its unacceptable. i will get out of this school with a 3.8 GPA but i will know that i was never happy in this school.

BMS now has a new principal, because the previous one resigned with less than a year into the job. This school is considered a low-performing school by California's standards. This school is in Program Improvement. With the only middle school in Benicia, there are more than 1000+ students enrolled. Overcrowding in class rooms are the norm. Sixth graders are overwhelmed due to a crazy class schedule.

This school is a joke! If it weren't the ONLY one in town I would do whatever I could to move my children. There are teachers there that should have left 20 plus years ago but instead stay and take out their frustrations on the kids. Sad! When it is brought to the attention of the principles, etc. they tell you what you want to hear but it never really changes. As long as this is the only gig in town I guess they don't have to change. Our tax dollars are being WASTED HERE that's for sure! I hope Benicia Middle School's survival never depends on my vote because if that were ever the case it'd be closed in a heartbeat. We want to respect our educators and believe they are in it for the good of the students. I myself have had many brilliant, capable people teach me, however, I also remember those teachers who taught with ego fear, and power trips and I still recognize them today in disproportionate amounts at this school! Grade F!!!!!!

Benicia Middle School is probably one of the worst schools in the bay area. This is my second year attending and still nothing has changed. Kids are getting beat up, sexually harassed, and constantly bullied. The counsler doesn't do anything at all and the principal has no idea what's she doing. You can proof and they still won't believe you or do anything about it. There is no simpathy. They have no discipline and treat you like dirt. Teachers select favorites and the other students get treated unfairly. The teachers make everything a competition and put stress on you. The stress has caused some kids to self harm, have reckless behavior, and many get depressed and anxiety. The school may look pretty but kids are crying in the bathroom and treated unequally. There is one black teacher at our school and there is constantly racism. Going to this school is a punishment.

As a new parent to the school I am not impressed with the school. It is very large (approximately 1200 students), the dress code is loosely enforced, and the children are to very welcoming to newcomers. The most disappointing fact of all is the achievement levels of the students. Published test results indicate the school is in Program Improvement year 5, and has hundreds of children to failing to meet proficiency. My family is now searching for a private school. This is very unfortunate given the hype of Benicia schools.
